Desmond Tutu |
The home of South African Nobel peace laureate and retired Anglican Archbishop, Desmond Tutu, was reportedly robbed on Tuesday while he was away at a memorial honouring Nelson Mandela.
Huffintonpost
quoted a statement from the police, saying that the robbery had
occurred between 7pm and 9pm. However, it was not clear what exactly
was stolen from Tutu’s Cape Town
home.
The
statement read, “At this stage, we cannot give further details, as the
investigation into the matter is still ongoing. No arrests have been
made as yet.”
Burglaries
and home invasions are said to be a frequent occurrence in South
Africa, which has one of the highest crime rates in the world.
Only four months
ago, Tutu’s home was robbed while he and his wife slept; both were unhurt in the incident
