Pedro |
Femi Pedro, a former Deputy Governor
of Lagos State under the government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was impeached in
office, for fighting his then boss, Tinubu, has surprisingly declared that he
is now a member of the All Progressives Congress, (APC).
Pedro formally joined the country’s
main opposition front on Sunday.
In a statement signed by his Special
Assistant on Media and Strategy, Lanre Anjolaiya, Pedro said he and the
national leadership of the APC share a mutual desire to see Nigeria become
great again, hence his decision to align with the party.
“Our dear country, more than ever before,
is in dire need of purposeful leadership committed to leading us out of the
woods; and one for which all men of good conscience must join hands,” the
statement read.
“Pedro is convinced, beyond any
shadow of doubt, that the APC offers that veritable platform to put Nigeria
back along the path of glory and prosperity. For this reason, I am delighted to
announce that Pedro has formally declared for the APC.
“He left the PDP with his teeming
supporters and party stalwarts across the South West to partner with the party
of the progressives – APC – towards the attainment of these noble objectives.”
Anjolaiya added that the task of
nation building comes with challenges and great personal costs which must be
fulfilled by genuine patriots.
