Baby boom in Nollywood

Even when God Almighty at the beginning of creation urged mankind to go into the world to increase and multiply through procreation, He never had the Nigerian movie industry in mind.
However, the rate at which Nollywood stars and stakeholders are currently going about it since the beginning of 2008, is quite alarming.
Besides, if not properly checked, it might even lead to a population explosion in the nation’s motion picture industry, unarguably the third largest globally.

Topping the list of the “new daddies” in town is Basorge Tariah, the grandmaster of comedy in Nigeria. His pretty wife delivered a bouncing baby girl early this year, thus increasing the number of their lovely kids to three. And since the arrival of the bundle of joy, the versatile actor, dancer, director and producer has not stopped rejoicing and celebrating.

Amazingly too, top actress Monalisa Chinda became the proud mother of a bouncing baby girl early in the year. She and Dejo Richards, her husband are still hitting roof top with happiness since the baby’s arrival.

Also from the coal city of Enugu, cheering news filtered in that top actor and the former national Public Relations Officer of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Charles Awurum and his entire household witnessed the patter of tiny feet some weeks ago. Gathered his pretty wife delivered a bouncing baby boy in their Enugu State residence.

Pioneer actor cum movie-maker Sunny McDon W, also joined the baby boom competition currently going on in Nollywood when his amiable wife recently put to bed, a baby girl. In fact, an insider later squealed to Saturday Sun that the diminutive thespian from Rivers State; now goes about with the baby’s picture in his wallet.

Top comedian cum actor Ali Baba also made the highly competitive list of entertainers helping to increase the population of the nation’s showbiz terrain. Mary, his banker wife gave him a special gift on Valentine’s Day – February 14, which turns out to be a lovely baby girl, she was christened penultimate weekend.

As if planned, Ayo, Makun the fast rising comedian/actor better known as AY, also joined his mentor and role model – Ali Baba in the game of fatherhood.
Mabel, his lovely wife recently brought forth their first child to the world and it turned out to be a baby girl. Interestingly, both couple had since christened their little angel Michelle.

“Toughie” roles loving crossover actor, Femi Branch is also basking in the euphoria of the baby boom era. Branch’s wife recently made him very proud with the arrival of their new born baby girl. And till date, the “Domino” star has not stopped celebrating and spreading the good news, especially to his pals and colleagues.

Moreover, the Abuja chapter of the Association of Movie Producers – AMP, is still in a party mood following the recent arrival of a new born baby in the household of FrankWhite, its chairman.

Meanwhile, the most cheering baby boom news in Nollywood, which also sounds like a fairy tale was between celebrated TV couple – Charles and Mariam Anazodo.
Pretty Mariam, a Nollywood enthusiast who also presents AM Express on NTA Network was recently delivered of a set of twins in a London hospital. The bundles of joy came after the couple waited patiently for over five years, thus paving the way for an unending celebrations, jubilations and thanksgiving to God for the gift of the fruit of the womb.

Also, in line with keeping the Nollywood babies making factory going steadily on, top actor and accomplished director Fred Amata and his lover Ibinabo Fiberesima were blessed with a baby girl. We reliably gathered that the love child was delivered in a London hospital, thus bringing to three, the number of children sired by the multiple award winning star of Mortal Inheritance. The baby boom also got an Aso Rock endorsement when the fiancée of fast rising comedian and actor Talkative, recently put to bed a beautiful baby girl.
Bayelsa State born Talkative, who is also the god-son of the nation’s vice president, Jonathan Goodluck, personally took his bundle of joy to the Villa, for Goodluck to bless and christen.

God Almighty, in his infinite mercies also hearkened to the passionate prayers and pleas of leading music promoter and entertainment consultant – Efe Omoregbe.
The youthful CEO of Now Muzik and his adorable wife after a long wait, finally witnessed the patter of tiny feet in their household. They have not stopped celebrating and spreading the good news.

It would be recalled that some Nollywood stars became proud dads and mums last year. Among them are: Saint Obi, Oge Okoye, Chioma Chukwuka, Carol Ekanem and others.

Mirror of Beauty wins at AMAA, Africa’s biggest award

MIRROR OF BEAUTY, the historic African epic love story that was produced by Andrien Gbinigie’s led Atlantic Overseas Limited won the award for the Best Music Score at the recently held African Movie Academy Awards-AMAA. The pan-African awards night took place in Abuja, the federal capital territory of Nigeria, amid glitz, glamour and razzmatazz.
The intrigues and suspense filled movie, which was shot on 35mm, defeated other equally good movies like: White waters, Cash Money, Run Baby Run and Black Friday to cart home the prized plaque in that keenly contested category.
Mission To Nowhere, another action-packed movie jointly produced by Atlantic Overseas and TFP Global Network also won an award at AMAA. Uju Okeke, an up and coming actress, who dazzled in the 35mm movie won in the Best upcoming Actress category.
Mirror of Beauty, which had shown in big cinemas across Europe and Africa, has also been selected for this year’s edition of the forthcoming Cannes International film festival in France.
It is a movie that depicts the real African settings and cultural background with rich costumes, make-up and well-rendered traditional music.
In the movie’s synopsis, the sudden death of the Igwe (traditional ruler) of Amanze village throws the royal household into mourning and chaos. Consequently, it becomes imperative for Ugegbe, the princess to choose a husband in order to save the situation.
Meanwhile, Ejike, the only son of a wretched widow, consumed by his ambition to marry the princess gets his fingers burnt, thus throwing Ugegbe into confusion.
The twisted story takes another dimension when Ugegbe’s choice of a husband turns out to be a ghost.
Directed by Okey Zubelu Okoh, Mirror of Beauty stars some of the biggest names in Nolywood. Among them are: Olu Jacobs, Mike Ezuronye, Chika Ike, Amaechi Muonagor and Ebere Okaro.
