Ramadan: President Jonathan greets Nigerian Muslims as they begin this year’s fast

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday admitted that the activities of the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, have curtailed his movement and prevented him from going to wherever he loves.
The President hurriedly returned to the country on Thursday evening from Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, because of the bomb blast at Emab Plaza in Abuja.
The blast at Emab Plaza in Abuja, occurred on Wednesday shortly after the President left Nigeria for the 23rd Ordinary Session of the African Union’s Summit of Heads of State and Government.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has described media reports that it had dropped corruption case against the governor-elect of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, as untrue.
The agency’s Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, told our correspondent on Monday that the recent election of Fayose had not affected the ongoing trial of the governor-elect at the Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti, for alleged corruption.
Uwujaren said that the case would come up for hearing on July 15, 2014, adding that the immunity clause in the Constitution only applied to the President, the Vice President, sitting governors and their deputies, and not governors- elect.

A statement by the spokesman of the University, Mr Kayode Sutton, on Friday in Lagos, said the University’s Governing Council had approved the new tuition fees.

 As the governorship election in Ekiti State holds today amid tensions and fears, the result will also be announced in Ado-Ekiti and not Abuja as being speculated.  The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Alhaji Halilu Pai, has disclosed.
Pai told a news conference in Ado-Ekiti on Friday that the clarification became necessary because of the rumour making the rounds that the result would be announced in Abuja.

Since it was made public, mixed reactions have continued to trail the recent appointment of Mrs. Roli Bode-George by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as the Director-General of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
