Ramadan: President Jonathan greets Nigerian Muslims as they begin this year’s fast

 Against the background of security challenges in the country, President Jonathan has urged all Nigerian Muslims to offer special prayers for greater peace and security in the nation as Ramadan begins today.
The President also seized the opportunity of the commencement of the Ramadan fast to further reassure the entire nation that the Federal Government will continue to work tirelessly to curb insurgency, terrorism and other criminal acts which have caused insecurity in parts of the country.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday admitted that the activities of the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, have curtailed his movement and prevented him from going to wherever he loves.
The President hurriedly returned to the country on Thursday evening from Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, because of the bomb blast at Emab Plaza in Abuja.

Anxiety as CBN’s cashless policy begins nationwide July 1

The statement stated that the nationwide roll-out of the cash-less initiative became imperative following the success recorded in the first and second phases.

Fraud: EFCC says Ekiti-Governor-Elect, Fayose still has a case to answer

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has described media reports that it had dropped corruption case against the governor-elect of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, as untrue.
The agency’s Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, told our correspondent on Monday that the recent election of Fayose had not affected the ongoing trial of the governor-elect at the Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti, for alleged corruption.
Uwujaren said that the case would come up for hearing on July 15, 2014, adding that the immunity clause in the Constitution only applied to the President, the Vice President, sitting governors and their deputies, and not governors- elect.

After several weeks of intelligence gathering and intense interrogations, the Lagos State Police Command on Monday finally paraded a 64-year-old evil native doctor, Alhaji Olatunji Azeez, who confessed to have killed a retired customs officer, Mrs. Angela Kerry, and her 10-year-old adopted daughter, Obiagulum, on May 10, 2014.
According to a report SHOWBIZPLUSng monitored in Punch Metro, the decomposed bodies of the woman and her daughter were found in Azeez’s house in Ire Akari Crescent, Ajuwon Akute, Ogun State by operatives of the Lagos State Special Anti-Robbery Squad.  As the governorship election in Ekiti State holds today amid tensions and fears, the result will also be announced in Ado-Ekiti and not Abuja as being speculated.  The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Alhaji Halilu Pai, has disclosed.
Pai told a news conference in Ado-Ekiti on Friday that the clarification became necessary because of the rumour making the rounds that the result would be announced in Abuja.
