There will be lots of
musical excitement next weekend, at LTV Blue Roof, Lagos, as the MTN Project
Fame All Star concert hold in the city.
SHOWBIZPLUSng learnt that star artistes like Wizkid, Timaya,
Kcee, Banky W., Iyanya, Tiwa Savage and many others will be performing along
sides Project Fame past winners comprising Olawale, Monicah and Ayoola.
The
concert, which had previously been held in Ilorin and Benin, is expected to be
highly explosive.
Meanwhile, there are
reports that a large section of the student population and fans of Project Fame
have geared up preparation to be part of the star-studded event. This is
according to trends, monitored independently, on social media platforms like
Twitter, where fans using a dedicated hashtag have already begun to signal
their interest in attending the yearly concert.
Last year, the Lagos leg
of the concert recorded thousands of attendance and the organisers believe this
year will be better. This belief stemmed from the success of two of such
concert held earlier this month in two of Nigeria’s popular cities.
In Ilorin, the youth
community trooped out in large number to be part of the concert. For obvious
and understandable reasons, this was not unexpected - considering that fast
rising hip hop sensation, Sean Tizzle, Project Fame Season 2 winner, Chidinma;
Mavin’s D’Prince and veteran artiste Sound Sultan were in town.
The show itself lived up
to expectations. Sean Tizzle was a handful as he used his gift and stage craft
to hold the audience spell-bound leaving no one in doubt that he is made for
greater things. The crowd comprising largely students of the two tertiary
institutions in the ancient city was pleased by the MTN brand ambassador.
One of the students at
the concert expressed his satisfaction with the young artiste’s performance
saying, ‘Sean Tizzle is more in tune with the desire of the youths and I’m
happy to see him perform live’.
Chidinma Ekile, the
‘Kedike’ crooner delivered a gusto performance. She started by urging a minute
silence for the singer, Keffe, who was reported dead that morning. The mood
occasioned by the departed songstress gave way for a lively and engaging
performance by the petite songstress.
The icing on the cake
were performances by D’Prince and Sound Sultan. D’Prince was hilarious. He
exemplified what every Mavin act epitomises: stage craft and energy. Sound
Sultan showed up with his full band. They were a marvel all through the night.
There were great
performances from Project Fame’s past contestants such as Adetoun and Omolayo.
The two lived up to their rising profile: the former as the ‘next Waka Queen’,
the latter, the next classical music biggest artiste.
The Lagos concert will
be a delight and will usher in the large West African audience to the seventh
season of MTN’s commitment to molding exceptional superstars via Project Fame.
The highly entertaining TV reality show and musical academy begins in July.
