DStv to broadcast Calabar Carnival live


Nollywood stars at calabar carnival

As part of its commitment to deliver quality family entertainment to its subscribers, MultiChoice Nigeria through its premium DStv brand is set to thrill subscribers with the live and magazine type coverage of the month-long Calabar festival, held annually in Cross River state, South-South region of the country.
The announcement follows the confirmation of MultiChoice as media partner and sponsor of the prestigious carnival which has grown to become the leading centerpiece of cultural and artistic celebration of the best of Nigeria.
According to the Managing Director of MultiChoice Nigeria, Mr. John Ugbe, the dedicated broadcast of the Calabar Carnival on DStv is part of the company’s promise to deliver home-grown entertainment to DStv subscribers and audiences on the continent.

Mr. Ugbe clarified that the festival, which was initiated as part of the vision of making Cross River State the number one tourist destination for Nigerians and visitors, will be broadcast to over 40 African countries from Thursday 26thDecember to Tuesday 31st December 2013.
Martin Mabutho, General Manager, Sales and Marketing of the company  noted that this year’s festival will feature a series of concerts, cultural events, carnival, football competition, beauty pageant, fashion show, comedy and other activities. Some of the Artistes for the concerts include P Square, D’Banj, Timaya, Waje, Omawumi and Wiz Kid.

DStv’s special holiday season coverage include the Akwa Ibom Christmas Concert, the Calabar Carnival and the Lagos Countdown event which will be broadcast live from 31st December into the New Year
