The
year 2013 saw the emergence of new superstars in the Nigerian movie industry
globally known as Nollwood. However, some known names also failed to live up to
expectations in terms of appearances in hit movies.
Ramsey Noah
He was
the dream of producers, directors, marketers and movie buffs alike when he came
into the movie scene. The Nollywood thespian who started his acting career with
appearances in soap operas like ‘Fortune’ has however been quiet in the year
under review. His last notable work before disappearing into oblivion was the
successful movie, ‘Figurine’.
Oge
Okoye
Amid
rumours of divorce from her husband of seven years, her highpoint was in 2012
when she was awarded a Doctorate Degree by Wisconsin International University,
USA. The sultry actress has had an extremely quiet year which saw her not
appearing in any major movie in 2013. The Nnamdi Azikiwe Theatre Arts
graduate’s last major movie can be traced back to 2010 when she starred in the
national hit, ‘Blackberry Babes’.
Jim
Iyke
The
Nollywood actor known for his bad boy roles in movies has constantly hit the
news recently for the wrong reasons. The Anambra State-born thespian has
however failed to sparkle in the movie scene, as he failed to stare in any
major Nollywood movie in 2013.
Mike
Ezuruonye
Many
are of the view that the acting career of the Nollywood star nosedived with the
arrival of new kids in the industry. He didn’t stare in major movies within
2013.
Genevieve Nnaji
Nollywood poster girl and mother of one, Genevieve Nnaji, didn't shine this year as an actress. She only made headlines on matters affecting her love life and fashion blunder at the AMVCA.
