Christians condemn Kumuyi for saying Christmas is idolatrous

The General Overseer of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor WF Kumuyi, has come under heavy attacks from Christians in different denominations for saying that Christmas is idolatrous and unscriptural.
The clergy, while speaking at the recently held annual national December convention of the church on Saturday, said: "We don't celebrate Christmas. It actually came from idolatrous background... That is why you don't hear us sing what they call Christmas carol. Never!..."
Meanwhile, several angry and disappointed Christians who spoke with us on the condition of anonymity condemned the statement from Kumuyi. They also urged him to stop making such religious intolerant speeches, as it is capable of dividing Christendom and the body of Christ, which he is a leading member.
"I'm disappointed with Kumuyi for making such an unguarded statement. What does he want to achieve with such a reckless and inflammatory statement? He has lost my respect", stated one of the angry pastors that does not want his name published.
