Shortly after carrying out its Walk for Health programme, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Ikate, the Lagos State chapter of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) on October 30 held it celebrities Night, where Daddy Showkey, Jide Kosoko and Andy Best were celebrated and honoured for their immense contributions towards the growth of the entertainment industry.
Earlier, the executive members of the guild, led by the chairman, Victor Osuagwu, stormed the Isolo corporate head office of Entertainment Express; apart from giving stewardship accounts of their 100 days in office, they also unveiled proposed programmes.

The team-Val Agwulonu, Gen-Sec; Bukky Ogunnote, Vice chairman; Nath Georgewill, DGS; Moji Oyetayo, PRO and Chima Kackson, Assistant secretary- received by the amiable editor of Entertainment Express, Azuh Amatus, expressed joy over what they described as “high level of professionalism being exuded by the editor and his team.”
“We came here to celebrate with Entertainment Express. Recently, we’ve been hearing and seeing the reloaded and rebranded editions of the paper. It’s a welcome development; a paper that is barely two years in the market has become a household name. We also want to thank EE for the cordial relationship that has existed between them and AGN. The paper has consistently told our story to the world,” Osuagwu extolled.
Giving his stewardship accounts, the chairman noted: “We’ve been able to raise the membership of Lagos AGN from 30 to almost 1500. We’ve been able to give medical care to members of the guild-we brought medical experts who took time to carryout checkups for members. We’ve also visited some motherless baby homes and presented gifts to them. The guild at the moment has a functional website and every other means of communicating and reaching us. Most importantly, we’ve secured a secretariat for the guild and our operations have fully commenced from there. The secretariat is located at No. 44 Marshal Road, Surulere,” he stated.
“December 15th is our Carol Night and End of the Year Party. By next year, we have intention of floating Actors Got Talent Reality Show, Mr. and Miss AGN, among others. In fact, the hype is already on,” the chairman disclosed.
Agwulonu on his part hinted that Acting Skill and Technical Improvement Training was recently organized by the guild. “The facilitators were tested and trusted hands like Segun Arinze, Florence onuma, among others. The participants were sharpened and giving certificates of participation. Recently, we had auditions for the movie Lagos State AGN intends shooting any moment from now,” the secretary avowed, affirming that members of the executive, considering their pedigrees, have what it takes to make the guild the envy of all.
“We also have plans for the women. We intend having a skill acquisition training for our women so that when they are not on movie sets, they can still generate money from other means,” the Vice chairman added her voice.
