DStv unveils December 2013 highlights



 Premium pay TV station DSTV, has unveiled its December 2013 highlights for his teeming subscribers to watch and enjoy. Below are the highlights.




M-Net (DStv Channel 101)

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (Premiere):  Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel's feature films, as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange and the unknown around the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson's team consists of Agent Grant Ward, highly trained in combat and espionage; Agent Melinda May, expert pilot and martial artist; Agent Leo Fitz, brilliant engineer; and Agent Jemma Simmons, genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye. From Wednesday 27 November at 19:30 CAT.



DISCOVERY CHANNEL (DStv Channel 121)

King of Crash:The world of the demolition derby can be summed up by one simple axiom – 'smash or be smashed'. Explosive egos, intense competition and automotive carnage make these destructive events impossible to turn away from. Set in Utah’s demolition derby circuit, this is a world of legalised road rage - where the accidents aren’t accidents and the characters are as combustible as the collisions! TJ, the Sweat Brothers and Gumby the Stormin’ Mormon compete for bragging rights, family honour and enough prize money to repair their cars for the next event. The series explores the personal lives of eight drivers who step behind the wheel every week in hope of crushing the competition and bringing home a win. At each derby, competitors advance through various heats for a chance to capture the coveted title of 'Mad Dog: Most Aggressive Driver', and juggle nagging physical pain, strained family relationships and financial stresses as they push ahead in their quest to become derby champion.From Friday 6 December at 20:30 CAT.

E!ENTERTAINMENT (DStv Channel 124)

E! Entertainment Special: Tori Spelling: She’s come a long way from her role in the hit teen series Beverly Hills, 90210, and Tori Spelling is now an author, producer, designer, reality TV star, wife, mother and, most recently, a survivor.  Join Giuliana Rancic this month for an intimate and exclusive look at Tori’s personal world as she discusses everything from her career and marriages to the difficult pregnancy that left her bed-ridden for two months and nearly cost her life. It airs on Thursday 12 December at 22:00 CAT.

True Hollywood Story: Cee Lo: Discover everything you’ve ever wanted to know about Cee Lo Green on E! this month as the singer reveals the truth behind his troubled youth and his struggles with kleptomania, the important role religion played in his life, and how he earned the name ‘Chicken Head’. Featuring candid interviews from family, friends and celebrity pals ranging from Christina Aguilera to Nicole Scherzinger, this is one you won’t forget! On Thursday 19 December at 22:00 CAT.



SONY ENTERTAINMENT (DStv Channel 127)

The Arsenio Hall Show: Hosted by comedian and actor Arsenio Hall, the show features a mix of comedy, music and celebrity guests, bringing a fresh new perspective to the chat show!  An Emmy Award-winner, the original The Arsenio Hall Show broke ground with iconic moments like Bill Clinton playing his saxophone, Michael Jackson’s guest appearance with Eddie Murphy and Mariah Carey’s television debut.  Mondays to Fridays at 19:00 CAT.

DISCOVERY WORLD (DStv Channel)

Bizarre Foods: Packing an open mind, a strong stomach and a healthy appetite for travel, internationally renowned chef and food writer Andrew Zimmern embarks on a mission to explore and share local delicacies from around the globe. He tastes his way around the world eating lamb’s eyes, boiled cow hooves, fried crickets, snail porridge and even jellied moose nose. From Monday 2 December at 22:00 CAT

DISCOVERY ID (DStv Channel 171)

TLC ENTERTAINMENT (DStv Channel 172)

Extreme Cougar Wives (Premiere):The series follows three women and their much younger beaus who live by the expression 'age is only a number'. In this one-off special, the three stars of the show are 53-year-old Jude, Stephanie, who is 65, and the queen of the crop, 76-year-old Hattie - whose insatiable appetite for younger men continues unabated, and who describes her life as 'extreme'. But it's not all plain sailing for this trio of boy-daters. Jude, who is marrying her daughter's old high-school boyfriend Kevin, 21, is struggling to deal with his family's disapproval. Paula Deen partners up with Iron Chef Cat Cora to compete against Food Network's very own Tyler Florence and Robert Irvine in the battle of the holiday desserts!The secret ingredient is sugar, and it’s down to the chefs to conjure up a taste-bud tantalising array of sweet delights, but whose creation will see them crowned the winner of the holiday dessert challenge? ANIMAL PLANET (DStv Channel 183)

Man, Cheetah, Wild: Brand new series follows Kim Wolhuter, a man at one with an untamed world. A maverick filmmaker who was raised in the wild, he doesn’t just sit in a truck to film some of Africa’s biggest predators - he wins their trust and runs alongside them barefoot. DISNEY CHANNEL (DStv Channel 303)

Mako Mermaids: Mischievous teen mermaids Lyla, Nixie and Sirena, guardians of Mako Island, fail to stop 16 year old Zac from falling into the sacred Moon Pool and becoming a Merman. Rather than risk being cast out forever, the mermaids must get legs, venture onto land and take back Zac’s new powers. It premieres on Saturday 14 December at 10:15 CAT.

Abominable Christmas:In this delightful film, after two Abominable Snowkids are chased from their mountain hideaway, they are forced to spend Christmas with the most feared animals of all: humans! Despite their mischief, the Snowkids come to understand the meaning of Christmas as they help the family learn to appreciate each other. This entertaining family film features a star-studded vocal cast which includes Emilio Estevez, Ray Liotta and Matthew Lilliard. Watch this animated adventure on Saturday 21 December at 10:40 CAT.

New Year’s Eve Party:Disney Channel gets the New Year's Eve party started with a four episode catch-up of Mako Mermaids followed by favourite Disney Pixar movie Ratatouille at 09:30. Then Mako Mermaids repeats at 14:35, before a brand new Violetta episode. Another chance to see early December's Future Weekend episodes is next, and then screens 2013’s hit film Teen Beach Movie. All this is followed by party-themed episodes until midnight.Join us to celebrate New Year’s Eve the Disney Channel way!

Big Wednesday:Every Wednesday throughout December at 17:00 CAT, Disney Channel gives fans a chance to catch the latest brand new episodes of their favourite shows.Big Wednesdays will feature all the latest episodes of shows like Shake It Up, Austin & Ally, Wolf Blood and Dog with a Blog.
