5 Dramatic events of 2013

Jim
Some unbelievable events happened in the Nigerian entertainment industry this 2013. SHOWBIZPLUS, after much deliberations has chosen the five most dramatic events in the year under review and represents them to you.

Jim Iyke’s deliverance At Synagogue
The self-styled bad boy of Nollywood was exorcised of demons in a viral video clip released in September by Prophet T.B Joshua’s founded Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN). Jim Iyke who also dominated the headlines for his romance with Ghanaian actress, Nadia Buari faced criticisms even from his own field. The Anambra State-born actor remained resolute on his actions.

D’Banj & Burna Boy’s show of shame
An uproar followed the erotic performances by D’Banj and Burna Boy on stage at Femi Kuti’s New African Shrine in October at Felabration. D’Banj threw caution to the winds as he engaged a female fan in erotic and obscene displays while Burna Boy pushed the envelope by stripping to his panties. Seun Kuti was swift in his rebuke, “Fela never wore panties on stage.”

Don Jazzy’s reunion with D’banj
It took the wedding of D’Banj’s sister, Taiwo Oyebanji for the two estranged co-founders of defunct Mo’Hits Records to again perform together on stage after almost two years apart. The coup d'état of a reunion was well celebrated by stunned guests and went on to become one of the biggest news items in the larger space.

Ken Okonkwo’s libido
“I am strong sexually for 24 hours.” That was a confession made by popular veteran actor, Kenneth Okonkwo in a rare interview with Entertainment Express. The shocking declaration of guilt from the former divorcee went viral on the blogosphere and exposed another side of the actor hidden away from the public. Till today, when I am sleeping with a lady she has to come before me. I enjoy sex more when the women have enjoyed themselves," he emphasized.

9ice unveils hidden twin girls
It was the first time ever that he would break his silence and this time without prodding from any one. After almost two years of denial, 9ice shocked fans by revealing his little known twin girls. Abolore Akande otherwise known as 9ice sired the kids with Abuja-based society gal, Victoria Oluwabukola Godis, sibling of Rhythm FM OAP, Oreka Godis. The singer has a son Zion with estranged wife, Toni Payne.

May be Seun Kuti should watch some video clips of his father's performance, as it appears he was too young to notice that Fela performed with panties on every stage. What's this whole struggle to rebrand Fela on petty issues that detract from his iconic status?
