The First Lady of Lagos State, Dame
Emmanuella Abimbola Fashola has become a mother figure to entertainers in Lagos
and Nigeria.
From music concerts to movie
premieres, the appearance of the likable First Lady is always one of the high
points of most entertainment gatherings. Her latest appearance was at the
unveiling of Hello Nigeria Magazine, which she stormed with smiles and charm.
The Dame of Entertainment who came midway through the magazine’s launch felt at
home and mingled with entertainers in attendance. As a political figure,
her presence at the launch might be something out of the norm, but for
entertainment buffs, the First Lady's glamour at the magazine launch was a
usual sight in Lagos.
Speaking briefly to EE at the event,
Dame Fashola who was brimming with smiles explained why she likes gracing
showbiz events regularly.
“I love showbiz, I love
entertainment. As the mother of the state I get invites to come for these
events and I like honouring them. Our entertainers are the main shinning lights
of our country, so I love supporting them,” she disclosed.
From music shows such as
Tuface’s Away and Beyond Concert, Wizkid’s Superstar Concert, to
comedy events like Yaw’s Last Molue show, Igos’ Comdey show and AY Live,
her frequent appearances at these showbiz gatherings, she avowed was borne out
of her love for entertainment. “I would have been a musician,” she added with a
smile. “Apart from always trying my best to honour these invitations and
encouraging these young people, it is also fun being here. It is fun listening
to music and dancing” she revealed.
The Lagos State First Lady along
with her husband Governor Fashola have developed and nurtured good relationships
with entertainers. As a means of connecting to the youths, the First citizens
of the state of aquatic splendor have always maintained an open door policy to
some privileged entertainers and showbiz personalities that are very close to
them.
Stars like Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage,
Segun Arinze and other celebrities visited and sent solidarity messages to the
family when the Governor lost his dad some months ago.
Recently, the Governor chose
Nigerian Hip-hop star MI as ambassador of his energy conservation campaign. “We
are the father and mother of entertainers. They are our children. They do us
proud on a daily basis, so we are proud of them,” Dame Fashola maintained.
