Kanayo O Kanayo finally resumes at NIHOTOURS

 Leading Nollywood actor Modestus Kanayo Onyekwere Kanayo famously known as KOK, has formally assumed his position as Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism Studies (NIHOTOURS).
This was done after a well attended inauguration ceremony that was presided over by the Tourism, Culture and National Orientation Minister High Chief Edem Duke.
The inauguration ceremony held at the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja and it also witnessed the inauguration of the boards of other parastatal in the Tourism, Culture and National Orientation Ministry including the Governing Boards of the National Theatre/National Troupe of Nigeria and that of National Gallery of Arts and the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC). While performing the inauguration, Chief Duke charged the Chairmen and Members of the various board to buy into the vision of the main ministry which is to position culture and tourism as leverage for economic growth and development and as a platform for
building an orderly, responsible and disciplined society where core values of hard work, honestly, patriotism, democratic principles and ideals are upheld. Chief Duke also charged them to support the ministry's vision of promoting the nation’s rich cultural heritage through identification, development and marketing of diverse cultural and tourism potentials and assets of Nigeria. Chief Duke also wants the chairmen to support his vision of mainstreaming the culture, tourism and orientation sub sector into the socio-economic frame of the Nigerian society. The Minister congratulated the chairmen and members for their well deserved appointment even as he charged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the process of growth of the organisation to which they have been assigned to serve. Also, Chief Duke further enjoined the Chairmen and members of the boards to cooperate with management and staff of the ministry as well as those of the agencies as
it is 'only through co-operation and collaboration that we can achieve our collective goal of developing our communities, states and of course the country at large''.  Meanwhile, KOK has paid a scheduled visit to the headquarters of NIHOTOURS in Abuja. The accomplished actor was taken on a tour of facilities of the agency. He later held a close door meeting with the Director General and top management staff. KOK thanked President Goodluck Jonathan for his appointment and confidence reposed in his ability and promised that the governing board he will lead will work towards ‘’internationalization of hospitality and tourism training’’. He says: ‘we will work at making NIHOTOURS play the crucial role of creating jobs and wealth for the nation. We shall guide the DG and his team to achieve the objective of making NIHOTOURS the primal institute for hospitality and tourism training in Africa’.
