The Onitsha Monarch, who made the call in Onitsha at the Royal Banquet organized in his honour by Glo in commemoration of the 2013 Ofala Festival Celebrations, noted that it was just proper for the Onitsha people to make Globacom their choice network, adding that the company had through its partnership redefined the Ofala festival.
He added that it was a great pleasure for the entire people of Onitsha to have had Globacom as a partner in the Ofala Festival in the last three years.
"It is a great pleasure not only for the Agbogidi but the entire people of Onitsha to have Globacom as a partner in the Ofala Festival. The royal banquet we are having today is a way Globacom has deviced to appreciate all of you for the warm reception you have given it since it came into Ofala three years ago. Even as we wine and dine together today, it is important for us to have it at the back of our minds that this is a great synergy between the Onitsha Kingdom and Globacom Limited. The best way we can reciprocate Globacom's gesture, therefore, is for the entire Onitsha people to make the network their network of choice", the monarch said.
The Obi, in demonstration of his royal blessing and endorsement of the Glo brand, directed the Ogene Onira of Onitsha, Chief Prof. Ernest Ngozi Okafo, to formally launch the Ofala Special Glo SIMs for the benefit of the people.
Welcoming dignitaries to the banquet, Globacom's Divisional Director, South East, Mr. Michael Ehumadu, said that the launch of the Ofala Special Glo SIMs was a continuation of an enduring and sustainable relationship with the good people of Onitsha.
Ehumadu who presented to the gathering the 22-year-old apprentice, Nworie Ndubisi, who in 2012 won a brand new Toyota Corolla star prize of the first Ofala Special Glo SIMs promotion, said that the new SIMs launched "is unique in that it comes with bottom-rock tariff of 18k per second, the cheapest and lowest tariff in the nation's telecommunications industry".
At the ceremony, the various age grades that competed for mouth-watering prizes at the Ofala Carnival were presented their prizes. In the elderly age grade, Anyanfulugo age grade, Ifenkili and Obineze age grades came first, second and third respectively, while Nwannebuife, Adoamaka and Onyeoma Ejeogu also took the first, second and third positions respectively in the middle age grade.
