DStv unveils July highlights


Below are the bumper highlights for the month of July as unveiled by DStv in a press statement sent to SHOWBIZPLUSng



 
M-Net Movies Premiere (DStv channel 103)

M-Net movies Premiere is bringing a range of blockbuster movies in July. DStv viewers can look forward toObvilion, The Wolverine, Thor: The Dark World and Man of Steel.

Oblivion: From the director of Tron, comes this futuristic sci-fi epic with Tom Cruise at the helm. As a drone repairman on an evacuated earth, Cruise discovers a crashed spacecraft that will change everything he knew.Tune in on Sunday 6 July at 20:30 CAT.
The Wolverine:Golden Globe winner Hugh Jackman is a brooding superhero with heart in this take on the Marvel comic. Expect action and eye-popping special effects as he slashes his way through Japan.Catch all the drama on Sunday 13 July at 20:30 CAT.
Thor: The Dark World:Fantasy action gets supersized as Chris Hemsworth returns for this explosive sequel to Thor. This time around, Thor must save his home, his true love and the universe from the sinister Dark Elves. Tune in on Sunday 20 July at 20:30 CAT.
Man of Steel: From the visionary mind that bought you The Dark Knight, comes the tale of a young Superman discovering his true origins. Expect action-fuelled clashes between the caped hero and the forces of evil.Catch it on Sunday 27 July at 20:30 CAT.

As a daughter of the wealthy person in the town, she has a bodyguard, Miguel Valdez. Fatal Needles Fatal Fists: A policeman specializing in martial arts gives up fighting criminals after his partner is killed. When a local opium dealer tries to strong arm his way into getting his shipments into town, however, he must come out of retirement to stop him. Tune in on Friday July 18at 18:00 CAT.

Wild World of Martial Arts: Looking for Mr. Miyagi: The best, most outrageous, most fascinating martial arts from all corners of the world. In this episode, Professor David Liban documents how he battles a mid-life crisis by embarking on a journey to achieve his black belt in Shotokan Karate before he turns fifty. SNOG, MARRY, AVOID?:Dubbed the world's first make-under show, Snog, Marry, Avoid? Sees Personal Overhaul Device transform “over the top” girls and boys into natural beauties. Presented by Atomic Kitten member Jenny Frost, focuses mainly on transforming 'fakery obsessed' or 'slap addicts' into natural beauties by stripping them of their skimpy clothes and  layers of make-up and giving them a ‘make under’ instead of a  makeover with  the help of the team. Operation Repro: You certainly wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of the Operation Repo team! They make it their game to track down deadbeat owners who have fallen behind on payments for a variety of goods encompassing expensive sports cars, extravagant boats and tremendous tricked-out trucks, not to mention the weird and wonderful including an occupied hearse and a canoe! If you can’t step up to the plate, they’ll stop at nothing to find you. Catch the team every weekday on DStv from Monday 21 July at 18:00 CAT.
AfricaMagic Entertainment (150)

In July, DStv audience can look forward to an exciting range of Africa Magic Original Films throughout. The line-up of movies includes titles such as The Diary, Deep Ends, Different Strokes, Return of the Prodical, Heartbreak,I’m Audrey, Tough Ladies and Out of Fire.

The Diary: Ade has always had to deal with his mother’s authoritative ways. However after the death of his father he refuses to succumb to her demand that he marries her friend’s daughter.  Now he must find a wife for himself and she must be Igbo just as his father asked him to, otherwise hewill not be able to retrieve his father’s diary from the lawyer. Tune in Sunday 5 July at 22:30 CAT.



Deep Ends: A man prides himself in his ability to provide for his family is suddenly threatened by the loss of his job. Not willing to give in to his fears he employs drastic measures to save face only to find himself in deeper waters.  Tune in on Sunday 6 July at 23:30 CAT.

Different Strokes:A young independent woman wants to follow in her father’s footsteps as a mechanic but her mother will have none of it. She devises a plan to help her daughter get a date. Return of the Prodical: A rich man values family but is about to lose his business to a hawk who all along has been waiting for the perfect moment to retaliate. A long lost son returns to save the day. Tune into DStv on Sunday 13 July at 23:30 CAT

Heartbreak:Lizzy has gone missing despite her boss’s theory that she has eloped with her colleague. Her husband is not convinced that his wife and mother of two would do such a thing. And her boss, well he will get what he did not bargain for. Tune into DStv on Sunday 20 July at 22:30 CAT

I’m Audrey: A young woman graduate is determined to pull her family out of the crippling hands of poverty via a radio show posing as Audrey. Get the hook up: This July on Style, DStv can follow Get the Hook Up, afresh new dating game that mixes up the traditional dating format. By allowing the contestants to show-off their hidden talents through live performances and talent segments, Get the Hook Up creates a fun and relaxed atmosphere, encouraging everyone involved to have fun and party, with the potential that they’ll meet the person of their dreams.Featuring host Russ Parr, the matchmaking action is packed into a half-hour slot, ensuring each minute is as entertaining as the last. Tune on Fridays at 20:15 CAT and 20:40 CAT.

BBC Lifestyle (DStv channel 174)

Chefs - Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is (Series 2): This highly entertaining series turns the cookery format on its head by pitting ten top chefs, including Aldo Zilli, Gino D'Acampo and James Tanner, against each other in the toughest test they've ever faced. In each episode, two of the chefs cook in a different environment; be it a top class restaurant, a gastro pub or a trucker's cafe.But there's a twist; for the final dessert course the diners will be invited to pay as much as they think the dish is worth, meaning that the winner won't be decided until the very end.
