ABPON plans national conference for beauty queens

In a bid to complement various commendable efforts towards promoting peace, security, unity and sustainable development in Nigeria, the Association of Beauty Pageants Organizers of Nigeria (ABPON), an incorporated and duly registered umbrella body for organizers of Beauty pageants in Nigeria is set to organise a national peace conference for all Beauty Queens from the 36 states and FCT, Abuja.
SHOWBIZPLUSng gathered that beauty queens of Nigerian origin across the globe are also expected at the conference which among other objectives is aimed at preparing Nigerian Beauty Queens, to take up their rightful places as role models for positive change, and as ambassadors of peace truly committed in carrying out various campaigns as advocates of peace, unity, love and sustainable development in Nigeria.

Nigerian Beauty Queens outside in the Diaspora are expected to project the good image and beauty of the country in human resources, tourism potentials, natural endowments and resources to attract investors, in view of the investment friendly and inviting environment in Nigeria.
National President of ABPON, Prince Sodin Akiagba, while speaking after a meeting of ABPON, which had in attendance, the Vice President, Barr. Francis O. Wainwei,  Valintine Darlinting and others, said ABPON is poised to change the face of pageantry in Nigeria.
Akiagba,  who is also coordinator of the Miss Niger Delta Organisation commended the efforts and achievements of President Goodluck Jonathan , the Federal Governments and security agencies in securing lives and properties, saying that with the support of Nigerians the adopted Chibok Girls will come back soon to join their loved ones.
According to the ABPON President, Beauty Pageants and Queens are expected to look beyond the glamour, funfair and fame which come along with the exulted crowns, but think of how to touch lives and impact the society positively.
The president of APBON is very optimistic that Beauty Queens across the Nation will be better positioned after the peace conference to appreciate the security challenges the nation is going through and how they too can play their roles towards building bridges of peace, promoting love, unity and socio-cultural integration in support of government. The conference shall also deal on campaigns against electoral violence especially, the impact and consequences of involving the youths negatively during elections.
Currently, the accreditation of delegates and Beauty Queens for the Conference is ongoing and Bayelsa state and other states in the country including FCT, Abuja are expected to host various aspects of the conference which is expected to achieve the desired goals.  
ABPON Officials also commended Mr. Ben Murray Bruce, who is regarded as the father and role model of the Beauty Pageant Entertainment Industry in Nigeria. According to them, ‘Mr. Ben Murray Bruce has played a commendable role in the growth and development of the industry.
