PDP berates Amaechi over deliberate waste of state resources

The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has decried the wasted state resources into the aborted All Progressives Congress, (APC) chieftains’ visit to Rivers State today, describing it as yet another gamble with the tax payers’ money by Governor Chibuike Amaechi who has in recent times resorted to draining the state's treasury.

The party through a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media to its Chairman, Jerry Needam said though it is not bothered by the crack on the APC which caused the postponement of the visit to Port Harcourt, it’s worried that all boils down to lavishing state funds that could be channeled to other productive ventures on mere political jamboree.

The statement further regrets that all Gov Amaechi could feel of the teeming unemployed Rivers youths is to pay them the paltry sum of N50,000 each to make up the rented crowd from the neighbouring states of Edo and Imo.

This, the party said has vindicated it for raising alarm on the way and manner Gov Amaechi relishes in mismanaging the state resources just to satisfy his fancies.

“By the time you put together the over N500,000million earmarked to the feeding, accommodation and paying the rented crowd for what was scheduled as a one day event which is now going to only God knows how many days, over N1billion of our state resources would have been wasted only in hosting politician friends from outside Rivers State”, the party reasoned.

The party noted with dismay that it’s only in Rivers State that a state that is so broke as not to maintain even half of its dilapidated internal road network that such wanton arrogance and bravado can be displayed.

This is to say the least unfortunate, it remarked.
