Speaking after receiving the award, Mr
Walter Drenth, Marketing Director Nigerian Breweries Plc, said that, Maltina
has over the years moved from a point of just giving back to consumers, but has
through its innovation and creativity designed consumer engagement platforms
that promote ideas, bonding and sharing happy time with every member of the
family which is the true culture in Africa.
“It should not come to anyone as
a surprise that Maltina Dance All won the award”. He added “Our consumers know
that we care and love them. The MDA is an activation that is best described as
a platform for family and individual members to achieve their dream.”
In her comments, Mrs Ngozi Nkwoji,
Senior Brand Manager Maltina described the award as a reward for creativity and
consumer acceptance of the MDA. She added that the show which concluded its
seventh edition in September tagged “The Evolution” of dance took families and
Nigerians through dance history transcending generations. The transformation
and growth of the MDA, she noted, has in no small measures contributed to the
development of family and individual entertainment in the country.
She stressed that Maltina is a brand
that has special interest in creating atmosphere that promote togetherness and
happiness sharing “which is why we have been actively involved in the week
long SPANFEST to connect and bond with
consumers in an atmosphere of relaxation to enjoy dance, music, fashion, theatre
and comedy.”

festival Curator and Chairperson of SPAN, disclosed, the festival
comes to a grand close with the SPAN Awards, a glamorous night of fine dining and exquisite
entertainment, honouring individuals and Organisations that have made an impact
in the arts.
She added that the arts community can
easily be described as one of the most under-celebrated communities, and SPAN
AWARDS aims to recognise and celebrate individuals and corporate bodies that
have made transformational impact and commendable investment in the development
of the arts in Nigeria.
A 10 man jury of reputable
professionals from the creative industry, including Nollywood veteran, Joke
Silva, Jahman Anikulapo and Ugoma Adegoke of The Lifehouse were saddled with
task of selecting the brands and individuals that won.
Head of Jury, Sandra Mbanefo said:
“All the jury members were delighted to be part of the process of choosing
winners in numerous categories for outstanding achievements and transformational
investment in the creative industry in Nigeria. It is amazing to
realize how many silent heroes we have in the industry, and I commend SPAN for
having initiated this important award for the continued and strategic
development of the performing arts in Nigeria.”
Audu Maikori of Chocolate City says
“It was indeed a great honour to be asked to be one of the judges at this
year’s Span Awards. The panel of judges consisted of very distinguished and
erudite professionals in the creative arts sector, so you can imagine how
robust and lively the deliberations over nominees and categories were!
Even though we didn’t all agree, one thing we were agreed on,
was to make our most honest input and ensure that true diligence, creativity
and excellence in the performing arts is duly recognized and
rewarded”
SPANFEST is an annual festival
designed by the Society for the Performing Arts in
Nigeria (SPAN) an NGO set up in February 2005 with the aim of
creating a world-class standard for performing arts education and expression in
Nigeria. SPAN, like Maltina, offers exceptional opportunities in
dance, music, theatre and visual arts to talented Nigerian youths, by
