The planned take off of the nation's new national carrier has hit a brick wall. Reliable information at our disposal has it that some aggrieved and disappointed stakeholders are already kicking against an alleged federal government decision to set up a national carrier in a manner devoid of transparency.
It was learnt that the government through the ministry of Aviation allegedly set up a clandestine national carrier named Nigerian Eagle Airline. According to a report from The Guardian, a picture of an aircraft, a B737-500, painted in the nation's colours with an eagle emblazoned on its tail was posted online, an indication that the ministry may have adopted a domestic airline and turned it into a national carrier. They also accused the ministry of flouting global best practices in the setting up of the controversial airline.
