Olu Maintain’s kid sister turns musician, rocks Ikeja with hot vibes

Oprah Alade

It was a special evening of fun as Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State was recently charged and exploded with a new dimension to Friday night life. At the centre of this exciting event, was the younger sister of the popular Olu Maintain, whose stage name is Oprah Alade (real name, Adegbulu Opeyemi), who entertained and wowed all night.

Oprah Alade was the cynosure of all eyes, at the prestigious Eagles Park Hotel, Ikeja, an arm of the Hotel 1960 Group, where she entertained guests, with her live band. The last child of the Adegbulu family, ‘Oprah Alade’ took guests present on a delightful adventure of great musical fun and back to the days ‘when men were boys and women were girls’, with her melodic rendition, performing an eclectic fusion of Juju, Hi-Life, Afro, Hip-hop and more.

In an interview with the Chief Marketing Officer of the Hotel 1960 Group, Ochola Jocelyn, she explained that the hotel wants to add variety to Friday night life. “Most hotels and clubs, every Friday, always entertain people with DJ mixes. This is why we came up with the live band idea, to allow people, who don’t want to dance to DJ mixes, to listen and dance to music from a live band, where the artiste will entertain, taking them to the old and new ‘skool’ of music. The show, which is without any gate fee, is open to everybody, who wants to enjoy undiluted live performance and entertainment and it will be coming up, every Friday, at the Eagles Park Hotel, in Ikeja, by 8pm”.

Oprah Alade, who spoke after the show, said that she is coming with her own kind of songs, which is different from that of her elder brother. “My genre of music is different from that of my elder brother. I love Hi-Life and Juju music and always derive pleasure from performing them. I have been in the music industry, for the past three years, with an album ‘Happy Faaji’, released in August this year”. She also gave a hint about the next show. “Next week(November 29) will be a very entertaining one because, my birthday falls on that date. Other artistes will be performing live, with me, including the President of the Association of Juju Music of Nigeria, K. Melody”.

Apart from Oprah Alade’s performance, comedians also spiced up the show. Notable among them is ‘Kelly the Blind’, who kept people laughing till the end of the show. Guests were elated as they commended and showered encomium to the organisers of the show.
