Dimgba Igwe |
The
recent killing of Pastor Dimgba Igwe, 58, the Associate Publisher of
Entertainment Express and Sunday Express Newspapers, by a hit and run
driver, while jogging in his Okota, Lagos neighbourhood has continued to
attract wide spread condemnations.
Some
leading entertainers and celebs who spoke with SHOWBIZPLUSng paid glowing
tributes to the departed veteran journalist and respected columnist.
They also called on the government to immediately fish out the heart
less killer of the father of four from Abia State.
Emeka Mba, (DG,
National Broadcasting Commission)
This is so
shocking and painful. What a sad news. May God give you people at Entertainment
Express and Sunday Express and his entire family the fortitude to bear the huge
loss. My condolence also goes to the Nigerian journalism profession for this
painful loss.

Azuh, I still
can’t believe Pastor Dimgba Igwe is dead. The shock has not left me since I got
the bad news. God will comfort his family, Mr. Mike Awoyinfa and all of you at
EE and SE. I want to appeal to the Nigerian Police to fish out the heartless
and evil hit and run driver that committed this heinous crime. God will surely
comfort all of us. Take heart.
Segun Arinze
(Top Actor, ex AGN president)
What a huge
loss, can’t believe this sad news. Are you telling me that the amiable man I chatted
with and introduced as the anchor of the Express Star Awards is dead? What a
painful exit. Our law enforcement agencies must quickly apprehend the heartless
killer of this doyen of Nigerian journalism. My family and I are mourning with
his family and all those he left behind. Goodbye Mr. Igwe.
Ejike
Asiegbu (Top Actor, ex AGN president)
This is
shocking and painful. I’m speechless and asking God why? My condolences to his
wife, children, entire family, best pal, Mr. Mike Awoyinfa and all those he
left behind, especially you guys at the Express family. The killer driver must
be fished out now. The government should also immortalize this huge Iroko of
the journalism profession that was cut short in his prime.
Zik
Zulu-Okafor (President, AMP)
On behalf of
my family and entire members of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP), we
are commiserating with the Express family over this huge loss. The Dimgba Igwe
that I knew and read was a deep, analytical, brilliant and consummate
journalist and writer. The government must immediately apprehend the evil
killer that has caused us all this unending pain.
Victor
Osuagwu (Top actor, chairman, AGN, Lagos State)
This is very
bad. The wicked driver that killed this great journalist and newspaper guru
must be brought to book.
On behalf of
myself, family and Lagos members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), please
accept our deepest condolences. Our prayer is that God will console and comfort
his family and all those he left behind.
Prince
Ifeanyi Dike (Chairman, AGN BOT)
How can
somebody waste the precious life of a healthy man jogging to keep fit in his
neighbourhood. My condolences to his mourning family and all those he left
behind. Igwe was a good man and a great journalist whose deep articles I always
look forward to reading every Tuesday on his Side View back page inside Daily
Sun. We have lost one of the few remaining veterans of the Nigerian media.
Ifeanyi Ezekwe (Top
actor, producer)
It’s so painful...He was such a great man...Met him two weeks
ago in his office and he was so warm and very pleasant...How we waste our
people on the roads....Really painful...May his soul rest in peace...
Theodore Anyanji (Top movie director)
May his soul rest in peace and may the killer never find
peace until he confesses. They just wasted the life of a great mind and one of
the leading lights in Nigerian journalism.
D’Lectura (Comedian)
I’m yet to come out of the shock that Pastor Dimgba Igwe is
dead. His death is very painful. The killer must be arrested without delay. Our
prayer is that God will comfort the family, especially his wife and also grant
his soul eternal rest. Good bye Oga Dimgba Igwe. Express family, you people
should take heart and carry on with his good works and legacies.
Mike Nliam (Musician/Filmmaker)
What a painful and shocking loss. It should not have been
Dimgba, such a Godly, nice, intelligent and gentle man. His death has left a
huge vacuum in the Nigerian journalism profession. Aside finding the killer
now, both federal and Abia state governments should also immortalize this great
son of our nation. Adieu Dimgba Igwe.
MC Senator (Comedian)
The devil is a liar. I was with Oga Dimgba recently at
Express Star Awards and was among those that hugely applauded his cerebral
delivery of the closing remarks at the end of the event. May his soul rest in
peace. May God also grant the family, the fortitude to bear the irreparable
loss in this time of grief.
