Fashola visits widow, hails Dimgba Igwe’s giant strides in journalism

The Executive governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola has described the late media guru and Associate Publisher of Entertainment Express and Sunday Express Newspapers, Pastor Dimgba Igwe as a great man who would be missed by not only the immediate family, but the entire country.

The governor stated this during his visit to the family of the deceased in Okota area of Lagos on Wednesday.

Addressing the widow, Mrs. Obioma, Fashola urged her to be courageous and take very good care of the family the husband left behind.

“It is sad and painful he left at a time when the family and the entire nation needed him most. His death is indeed a great loss and I urge you to be courageous in order to take care of the family he left behind.

Speaking further, Fashola said: “Until his sudden death on Saturday, him alongside his ‘twin brother’, Mike Awoyinfa were working on my book. In fact, the manuscript was even ready and it was supposed to be released on my 50^th birthday but I had to halt it. When Mike called to inform me about his death, I was shocked because we spoke not quite long. When we spoke, he reminded me about the project but I said we would release it very soon. “It is so sad and unfortunate he left the job undone.

On behalf of my family and the people of Lagos State, we commiserate with you and the bereaved family. We pray God to give you the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” he said.

In his condolence message, Fashola described the late Dimgba Igwe as a truly great man.

“Dimgba, as our interactions have always been in the last few years, I have learnt a lot from knowing you.

Rest in peace because there is no more sorrow where you are. We will continue the work until we meet to part no more. Dimgba, truly a great man," he wrote in the condolence register he signed inside the sitting room of the deceased.
