The Nigerian
Film Corporation (NFC) has announced Call for Entry Submission in the Children
Animation Film Project designed to address the dearth of appropriate film
content for children in Nigeria.
According to
a statement by the Corporation issued in Jos and singed by the Head, Public
Affairs Mr Brian Etuk, submission of entries opened on November 1st
2013 and will close by midnight of December 13th, 2013.
Scripts, he
said, must address contents intended for Children and Teenagers, with sound
moral base, instructional yet still entertaining. Similarly, the film will be
shot in the animation format. Consequently, the script should be written for
Animation, the statement added.
Furthermore,
the story/script should not be more than four (4) A4 size paper pages in the
double line spacing style; Etuk said. While English remain the Language
for entry; participants should note that all submissions are for a film of not
more than 10 minutes duration per series. Submission with content, not suitable
for the target age group will be rejected.
For
eligibility, interested participants are to pay the sum of N2,000.00 (Two
Thousand naira only) as Registration and Processing fee into NFC/NFI Fee
Account number 0003784256 at any branch of Diamond Bank, nationwide and
ensure that submissions are accompanied by evidence of payment. A scanned or
photocopy of bank deposit slip must be attached. Entries without evidence
of payment will be disqualified.
Individuals,
Groups Associations, Companies are eligible to participate. Others include
Children and teenagers with flair for writing. Nigerians in the Diaspora are
eligible to participate. Interested participants can submit more than one
script.
While
electronic submission (PDF format) is strongly preferred, the statement said,
hard copy (ies) will also be accepted through the Corporations official email
and addresses: md-nfc@hotmail.com and contact@nfcgov.ng. or Nigerian Film

located at Shippers Plaza Wuse Zone 5, Kano Zonal office located of the Audu

Lagos.
Etuk
stressed that interested participants must comply with all rules, terms and
conditions for participation, by also ensuring that the work(s)/script(s) which
must be a completed work and in the series format are original, with written
and verifiable permission accompanying adapted works where applicable. The
attention of interested participant was also drawn to the fact that they will
be held liable for accruable losses, resulting from the misrepresentation of facts.
While the
Corporation is not averse to scripts being submitted elsewhere, its media head
however said that participants must send in appropriate notification in
advance, to forestall a breach of any of the terms and conditions for
participation, especially if a particular script is selected for production.
The
Corporation was emphatic that all submissions must focus on the Nigerian Child
as the prime audience, while equally reflecting the Nigerian Local Content,
Culture and the portrayal of Nigeria’s Nationalistic values. The
statement advised participants not to follow up their submissions as all
entries received shall be duly acknowledged, and that owners of scripts that
scale through will be invited for a special production training workshop in
Animation prior to the commencement of the film Shoot and Production.
As part of
the terms and conditions for participation in the Children Film Animation
Project, all submissions must be accompanied by a one page synopsis of the
script. The Corporation will retain the rights to the film, while the writer
will be given the deserved credit for the work. For information on registration
