The singer was arrested for assault, following a video footage that showed him hitting one of his dancers in the stomach.
Koffi Olomide, who is a
veteran singer from the Democratic Republic of Congo, has been released
on bail following his expulsion from Kenya.
The singer was arrested after an interview on a Kenyan television station. The order came from the police chief of the country.
Olomide has now been granted bail by a Congolese court which ruled that the accused does no pose any flight risk.
Benoit Tayeye, one of the lawyers of the singer said, “Prosecutors granted bail to Koffi Olomide because he does not present a flight risk,”
“The defence has shown that the singer has a
known residence, is a famous music star and his principal interests are
here in DRC.”
A video recording had circulated the internet where the Congolese singer was seen kicking one of his dancers.
This caused anger in some camps, as many criticized the singer’s behaviour.pulse
