Real reasons Nigerian Breweries canceled Star Quest

It is no longer news that popular music talents show Star Quest has been canceled by the producers, Nigerian Breweries Plc (NB Plc). What perhaps, many don’t know is the dirty politics behind the cancellation of the troubled show.
Authentic information pieced together by SHOWBIZPLUSng, revealed that the show was cancelled because it failed to meet the aspirations of the company, thus creating disaffection among the top echelon of the organization.
Chief among the reasons the troubled show was rested is because most of the budding stars it produced failed to make it big in the music industry, unlike their colleagues from other talents shows. This was one of the hidden reasons the Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO) reality show was rested and yet to be replaced till date.

For over a decade, Star Quest did not produce any big name in the music industry despite the millions pumped into it by NB Plc.
An insider also told SHOWBIZPLUSng that the show’s handlers could not come up with more creative ideas on how to make it compete favourably with other musically inclined shows on national TV.
The show which started in 2002, ran for 12 years before being rested for failing to break even.
A new music show called, Star The Winner Is, has been unveiled by the brewery giant. According to them, Star The Winner Is, combines musical talent with the spontaneity and unpredictability of a game show.
Star The Winner Is, kicks off this April with auditions in five major cities across Nigeria including Benin, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Lagos, respectively.
