Some prominent Nigerians and their foreign counterparts will be
speaking at the 2013 Adventist International Professional and Business Summit
holding at the upscale Golden Tulip hotel between September 11 and 14.
Interestingly, two pilot editions of the historic gathering
already held at Tinapa, Cross Rivers State and Nike Lake Resort, Enugu State in
2011 and 2012 respectively.
The Summit is a novel initiative of the Seventh-Day Adventist
Church in Nigeria to enhance the capacity of its members across various
professional and business fields. It is also an avenue for professionals and
entrepreneurs to network and explore opportunities for business expansion and
growth within the boundaries of Christian ethics.
Leading the team of professionals and captains of industry already
confirmed to speak at the summit is: former
World President of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Dr. Jan Paulsen.
Paulsen was recently appointed Commander of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit,
one of the country’s highest civilian honours.
Others are, Group Chairman, Pacific Group and Pro-Chancellor of
Adeleke University, Ede, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke (father of rave
artiste, DAVIDO); HRM Elder Jacob Buba Gyang, the
Gbom Gwong Jos and former Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service and Prof.
JA Kayode Makinde, Vice Chancellor of Babcock University. In addition,
GlaxoSmithKline’s Marketing Director, Africa, Mr. Reuben Onwubiko and Elder
‘Seyi Wright, Chairman/CEO, Leadership and Vision, a world class training,
development and consultancy company – are among other VIPs that will grace the
summit.
According to Onwubiko, who spoke during
a recent world press conference organized by the Nellie Onwuchekwa-led Afresh
Resources Limited, to unveil the summit.
They seek to inspire and encourage their
membership to support the Church and her various ministries, while harnessing
the potential for growth and development of the Adventist Church in Nigeria.
“The summit seeks
to provide a forum for the development of the spiritual life of members, whilst
in pursuit of various careers and businesses.
To reinforce and inculcate Biblical
values for conducting business and profiteering in multi-religious environment
as the true basis for enduring prosperity and organizational success.”
While also lending his voice, the Summit’s Committee Chairman, Arc.
Dike Emmanuel, stated that
the programme would also provide opportunities for talent hunts and exhibitions.
“There is a
line-up of very talented youths from within and outside the church who would be
showcasing their God-given talents. There are NGO representatives in the Church
who are committed to identifying potential of the Nigerian youth and working to
maximize these untapped skills. The four-day Summit is a wake-up call to
Corporate Nigeria and religious organizations to contribute to national
development by setting Biblical standards and values that should drive the
outcomes of our various professional endeavours – and other businesses. Good
success – the prosperity that lasts must be founded on God’s values and codes
of ethics”.
