The judges and the faculty members in the season six of MTN
Project Fame academy almost locked horns, last weekend, as the current crop of
contestants, on the reality show, proved too good for any unfavourable
verdicts. The excellent and magnificence performance by the contestants kept both
the judges and ‘faculty’ spell-bound, as it was a difficult moment for both
judges and faculty to pick any areas where contestants need to improve. As such
a feud almost ensued.
While the faculty led by ‘mum’ Joke Silva was enthralled,
the panel of judges comprising TY-Mix, Ghanaian music legend, Bibie Brew and
Nigerian Ade Bantu felt it was their responsibility to still address one or two
flaws in the contestants’ performances. At the end of the day, it was agreed
that none of the contestants under-performed.
Since it’s a norm that some contestants will always have to
go on probation, the judges were put in a dilemma, on a night that had all-round
exceptional performances. Interestingly, they found a way out of that critical
situation. They placed all the contestants on probation.
Currently any of the ten contestants in the academy face a possible
elimination this weekend. The saving grace for the contestants will be the
number of votes, they gather from viewers, friends and family, all over the
West Africa sub-region.
The ten contestants in the academy are: Immaculate, Simon,
Olawale, David, Margaret, Niniola, Jimoh, Rowland, Omolayo and Blessing.
Meanwhile, Sound Sultan, a guest judge, on the show, was thrilled
by the performances. He encouraged the contestants to put in more energy into
their performances as the show is almost coming to its climax. He, however,
focused specifically on David, the Ghanaian, admonishing him, to come out of
his shell and take control of the stage.
To summarise all the
performance, the ‘Mathematics’ crooner said “I thought I was watching a
performance at the Grammy”.
