Dosa family |
Clement family |
As is the custom in the
Maltina Academy, the four families had to perform the two dances from the
60s-70s and 80s-90s in order to put their acts together and convince the judges
that they have the capacity of going the extra mile. The eviction showdown
started with the Ebute family dancing to the 1978 song Le Freak by
Chic; then the Asiyefia performed the 1979 song Ring my bell by
Anita Ward; the Clement family did the 1978 song I will survive by
Gloria Gaynor and the Dosa family ended the first part of the show with the
1977 hit song Staying Alive by the Bee Gees.
The second performance
started with the Clement family performing to the 1982 song A night to
Remember by Shalamar; then the Dosa family hit the stage with the 1992
song It’s my life by Dr Alban; followed by the Ebute family
who choreographed the 1985 song Part Time Lover by Stevie
Wonder. The Asiyefia family wrapped up the night with the 1983 song Beat
It by Michael Jackson.
Knowing that they have
to put in their best performances to be in the judges good books, the families
performed the different dance routines as if their lives depended on it. With
thrilling, captivating and stunning moves each family tried to impress the
judges to avoid being evicted.
The judges however had a
tough time deciding which of the families need to go home. At the end of the
day, the Dosa and Clement families were evicted from the Maltina Dance All
Academy. The judges were not convinced that they had what it takes to continue
the evolution journey to the grand finale. The Asiyefia and Ebute families were
however strictly warned to further brush up their choreography moves and styles
to avoid being put up for possible eviction again.
The Dosa and Clement
families were crushed at their dreams were cut off so early in the competition.
They were however grateful to Maltina for the experience and promised to
continue their dreams of dancing.
The Senior Brand
Manager, Maltina, Mrs Ngozi Nkwoji said evictions are unavoidable during the
MDA, though each family that made it into the academy has the potential to win,
“but our team of dance instructors have to train them to be the best at what
they love and our esteemed judges have the task of finding the best families to
get to the final. Then Nigerians will decide who they love most and deserve
to go
home with the grand prize of a whooping sum of N6 million and of course, a
brand new car. The first and second runners up will also get N1 million and
N500, 000 respectively”. She
added.
With this first eviction
now over, the remaining eight families will have to be more serious and
hardworking if they want to make it to the grand finale. The
show has thus farbrought to the fore, the Nigerian people’s
essence and values of sharing, happiness, unity, cooperation,
vitality and creativity.
With the delectable new
hostess Osas Ighodaro and new judge Jeffrey Page, the Maltina Dance All show
this year has so far been full of surprises and thrilling performances by the
families to the delight of Nigerians.
