How marital crises of Aisha, Mohammed is causing IBB so much pain, affecting his health

IBB with son, Mohammed

SHOWBIZPLUS has decided to reproduce this revealing story detailing reasons Aisha and Mohammed, both children of former Nigerian military president, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) have been failing woefully in their respective marriages and the many pains it is causing their heart-broken and widower dad.

“Let’s call a spade a spade: Love has not been fair to General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida’s two eldest children, Aisha and Mohammed. The two of them have been married twice and twice also they have divorced. Irreconcilable differences have been blamed for all four. However, one insider told YES International! that the reasons run deeper than that. According to the insider: “Yes, irreconcilable differences may be part of it, but there are also other cogent reasons like their parents, particularly the late Hajia Maryam Babangida, not allowing them to marry who they truly love; their refusal to meet their partners half way whenever issues arose as a couple and again forgetting that some of the privileges they enjoyed in their parents’ home as silver spoon children may not apply to their marriages.
“Many people do not know about this – Aisha, for example, may have married Basheer Garba Mohammed out of frustration. Her true love, like I heard, was either Kola Abiola or Malik Ado-Ibrahim, who the rumour mill had it then that she allegedly dated. Kola is the son of billionaire mogul and acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Bashorun MKO Abiola while Malik is the son of Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, HRH Oba Ado Ibrahim.
“Same thing with Mohammed. His true love has always been Umma, daughter of Amb. Aminu Wali, one-time Nigeria’s Ambassador to China. However, due to pressure from here and there, he ended up first marrying Rahama Indimi, daughter of billionaire businessman, Alhaji Mohammed Indimi, before going back to the other lady later. So, you can see why neither Aisha nor Mohammed’s marriages lasted and the reason both of them are currently in their second, if not third marriages”.
Continuing, the insider said: “Yeah, we heard accusations of violence against Basheer then, but you and I know that, that wouldn’t have happened if Aisha had been allowed to truly make her choice. Aisha and Basheer, by the way, met through the Abachas. I know or rather have too much information on them, which I don’t want to disclose here. And don’t forget, it was after Aisha had walked away from her first marriage where she was the first and only wife that she settled for Alhaji Aliyu Shinkafi, the then Governor of Zamfara State, as his fourth wife. Can you imagine that? Aisha, as pretty and as precious as she is, becoming wife No. 4? Even that marriage now, I don’t know how solid it is. I can also tell you categorically that Maryam wasn’t happy about that before she died. Her dream for Aisha was for her to have just one man, just like she had IBB, all to herself, in spite of him being a Muslim.
“Although, there were talks here and there then about IBB scoring some goals outside and not withstanding how much she caged him. One of his alleged mistresses then, one Collette or so, even gave him a daughter. But back to what I was saying. Even IBB is not happy about how his children’s marriages are turning out. In fact, if the truth must be told, that is actually one of his secret agonies as a septuagenarian. Some insiders are even insinuating that the turbulent marriages of his first daughter and first son are part of what is affecting his failing health. Because every father will want his children to marry and remain married. Not marry and rush out after some time. More so, after the marriages had been blessed with children”.
IBB, Nigeria’s Military President between 1985 and 1993, is from Minna, Niger State. Married to the delectable Maryam, a Deltan, since September 6, 1969, and blessed with four children – Aisha, Mohammed, Aminu and Halima – both of them, before death took away Maryam via ovarian cancer in 2009, used to rank among Nigeria’s most enviable couples. But for two of their children, the reverse has been the case. Aisha was born in Kaduna, but grew up in Lagos. She attended Corona School, Victoria Island, Lagos and Airforce Secondary School, also on Victoria Island, before later proceeding to Switzerland, where she read Psychology. She was equally in Saudi Arabia, where she studied Arabic. One of Nigeria’s most alluring women, the founder of Tasnim Foundation has a passion for collecting beautiful watches and ear rings.
Her immediate younger brother, Mohammed, oversees his father’s vast and voluminous business empire. An ardent polo player, he too was educated in Switzerland and is currently being touted as one of those eyeing the Niger State governorship election in 2015. Like his sister, both of them are in their early 40s. The other thing both have in common is their inability to sustain their marriages, which is currently giving their evil genius dad sleepless nights.
