Davido, Flavour, Cobhams others to thrill as AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards holds today

SHOWBIZPLUS has confirmed that Africa’s powerful film and television industry will once again command the spotlight this evening with the screening of the 2014 AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards, boasting a stellar line-up of musical acts for the evening.

 The AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards, held in association with MultiChoice Africa and Amstel Malta will be held in Lagos, Nigeria at the posh Eko Hotel and Suites and will feature some of the biggest names on the continent. Viewers can look out for must-watch performances from award-winning Nigerian musical Kakadu, fresh from their recent performance at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Also on the line-up is Chanel O Award winner Davido, acclaimed pianist and musician extraordinaire Cobhams, highlife hit maker Flavour and versatile vocalist Waje.

This awards spectacular will start at 18:00 CAT with a special Red Carpet broadcast hosted by Channel O VJ Denrele Edun, alongside the sleek Eku Edewor as they welcome some of Africa’s hottest stars to one of Africa’s biggest film and television events. Hosted by Ik Osakioduwa and  Vimbai Mutinihri of Big Brother Africa fame joined by Osas Ighodaro of AfricaMagic’s Tinsel, the awards show will start at 19:30 CAT. 

In total, 29 awards including 9 voted for by viewers, will be handed out with winners coming from a range of fields including acting, directing, writing, editing, costume design, sound, lighting, make-up, cinematography, and art direction across a variety of productions and genres, from drama and comedy features to documentaries, online video and short film. Among the most anticipated moments of the night, make sure you stay tuned to see who walks away with the TrailBlazer, Industry Merit, and New Era Awards.

Viewers can catch this awards spectacular live on DStv; AfricaMagic Entertainment (channel 150/151), AfricaMagic (channel 154) and AfricaMagic World (DStv channel 155) and also on GOtv; AfricaMagic (Channel 1)
