Multiple celebrations for Fred Amata at 50

One of the leading lights in the nation’s robust film industry, globally known as Nollywood, Fred Amata is 50. And to celebrate this Golden Jubilee, already dubbed one of the biggest birthday grooves in Nollywood, family members, colleagues, associates and friends are currently planning multiple events to help usher ‘boyish’ Amata into the Golden club.
The two-week celebration commenced on May 4 and will come to a glorious end on May 18, amid glitz and grandeur.
According to the organizers, the bash begins with a special evening with the birthday boy.
This outing will be packaged by City People magazine, who will be bringing together heavyweights in the entertainment industry to spend an evening with one of the biggest names in Nollywood, Amata. The event holds on May 4, at Abibiz Restaurant and Lounge, Victoria Island, Lagos.
It would be followed with another gathering dubbed West Coast Party. It is being put together by Chico Ejiro and the entire west coast group. They will be hosting the movie titan on a special night with friends and colleagues. The event will take place at the popular Plantation Bar, Surulere.

The Celebrity Charity Challenge is another grand event lined up for the birthday boy. It's a novelty football match where a select team of Nollywood stars, musicians, comedians, TV and radio personalities will challenge the 1994 Nations Cup winning Super Eagles team, which boasts of Kanu Nwankwo, Jay Jay Okocha, and many other famous players. The event will give to charity and also honour Amata on his 50th birthday.
Also, as part of the special tribute to the movie icon, there will be a stage performance of "The King Must Dance Naked" to be performed by Bimbo Manuel, Kate Henshaw, Monalisa Chinda, Segun Arinze, Keppy Bassey and many others...even Amata, the celebrant will be on the stage acting.
Interestingly, a white tie dinner will be held at the Muson Centre on May 18, in honour of Amata. This will be the climax of the events lined up for the erudite theatre practitioner from Delta State.
In a brief chat with ACTION!, elated Amata, who was full of appreciation, equally thanked all those behind the elaborate activities lined up for his golden birthday celebrations.
“I’m humbled and full of appreciations for all the love and support shown me so far… It feels cool and good hitting 50…”
