In tune with current economic realities in the nation, coupled with the pleas of some of the major sponsors and award recipients of the forth coming Nollywood Girl-Child Defenders Award s and the epoch-making premiere of the movie ‘Reality’, which chronicles the travails of the Nigerian Girl-Child in a very detailed and most revealing cinematic plot, Viewtrends Entertainment Ltd, the organizers of the Nollywood Girl-Child Defenders Awards and producers of ‘Reality’ have announced a new date for the event.
The two-pronged event features the much-anticipated Lagos premiere of the movie REALITY, following the successful world premiere hosted in Owerri, Imo State. It also features the second edition of the Nollywood Girl-Child Defenders Awards where notable Girl-Child rights activists and advocates, the clergy, civil societies and corporate organizations shall be recognized and appreciated for their individual and corporate contributions to the empowerment and welfare of the Nigerian Girl-Child.
Originally scheduled to hold on Sunday July 10, 2016, at the prestigious Lagos Airport Hotel, along Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos, the event is now to hold on Sunday August 14, at the same venue.
A signed statement made available to DAYLIGHT.NG by Dozie Eboh, and Myke Pam, the project Coordinator and event publicist respectively, also detailed the names of the award recipients as well as assuring all and sundry that the event will live up to its top billings.
Some of the recipients of the awards includes; Mr. Bolaji Dawodu, a foremost film-maker and director of note, Stephanie Okereke, an accomplished Nigerian movie star and Child Rights Activist, Hon. Lola Akande, Honorable Commissioner of Women Affairs, Lagos State, Pastor Wole Oladiyun of CLAM, a prominent preacher of the Word and unassuming philanthropist, Chief Jeff Imoh,Chairman/CEO Sparklett Bottling Company Limited, Nollywood greats like Tonto Dike, Iyabo Ojo, and Ifeoma Okeke. Others include Chief Tobenna Anumaka, a renowned businessman and philanthropist, Hon. Chuks Nneji, a politician and Child Rights advocate, Her Royal Majesty, Olori Saheed Elegushi, Alozie Uzoukwu, GM Silverbird Television, Moji Danisa, prominent journalist and Onche Bishop Odeh of Daily Independent Newspapers and London based Dr. Obioha amongst others. A special post-humous award shall be presented to the family of the late silver screen icon Bukky Ajayi, who died recently.
According to the organizers, no stone is being left unturned in their collective quest to make the event a very memorable one. “The Nigerian Girl-child must be set on the right part as she strives for empowerment in all spheres of her life”, the press release concludes.
