The national U-23 team will play Mexico in a friendly game, which will serve as part of the squad’s preparations for the men’s football event of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
The Nigeria Football Federation stated on its website that the game against Mexico’s U-23 side is scheduled for Mexico on July 2 at 8.30pm Mexican time.
NFF’s FIFA match agent Jairo Pachon of Eurodata Sport stated on Tuesday that the match would take place at the Aguascalientes Stadium, home ground of newly promoted top tier club, Necaxa FC.
The match is scheduled to start at 8.30pm Mexican time.
The NFF stated that after the friendly match, the Nigerian U-23 squad would continue their training camp in the United States of America and would play Charleston Battery FC in Atlanta on July 16. A game against the Honduras U-23 team is also being arranged for July 27.
Nigeria, Olympic champions in 1996, will play Sweden, Colombia and Japan in the group stage of the men’s football tournament of this year’s Olympic Games in Brazil.-----PUNCHNG.COM
