KATIE PRICE |
Katie Price has lashed out at mothers who share photos of themselves breastfeeding their children in public during a panel discussion on ITV’s Loose Women.
Speaking on Thursday’s show, the 38-year-old TV personality told her co-hosts that she ‘didn’t agree’ with the practice – championed by many celebrities including Tamara Ecclestone.
The former model hit out at mothers who breastfeed or post pictures of themselves feeding their children on social media, comparing the act to her baring her breasts in the same circumstances
.
The mother-of-five made her opinions clear on the subject whilst discussing the common trend of posting baby bump pictures to Apps, such as, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
‘I don’t like breast-feeding selfies,’ the outspoken author and former model said firmly.
Elaborating on her controversial view, she explained: ‘I don’t agree with people putting up pictures of them breastfeeding.
‘I don’t want to see that, like people probably won’t want to see me my selfies, my boobs and this and that.’
Katie has son Harvey, 16, from her brief relationship with footballer Dwight Yorke, 44, and son Junior, 11, and daughter Princess Tiaami, nine, from her marriage to singer Peter Andre, 43.
The TV personality also has son Jett, two, and daughter Bunny, 22 months, with third husband Kieran Hayler, 29, who she tied the knot with in the Bahamas in 2013.
Drilling her point of view home, she critiqued the practice of mother’s feeding their babies in public places, adding: ‘If it’s proper out then you can’t help looking.
‘I know it’s a natural thing, but I don’t want to eat my dinner seeing a woman’s boob out.’
Challenged on her own pregnancy photos – which appeared in certain magazines, such as, OK! – the model said she’d been in control of the shoots and didn’t regret it.
Quizzed by her fellow panellists Janet Street Porter, Ruth Langsford and Linda Robson, and special guest Kerry Katona, the model responded to their comments on her magazing shoots, saying:
‘I don’t think we can answer this one because we do show our bumps. The difference is, I knew I was showing it off. I was in control.
‘I don’t take pictures of my bump and send it to friends like that, but I can’t sit and say, “Oh no I won’t do that” because clearly I’ve done shoots and been paid for it. I’d be two-faced [if I said it wasn’t right to share these pictures].’
Her comments come just days after Tamara Ecclestone – who appeared on the show earlier in June – defended her decision to publicly share images of her breastfeeding her two-year-old daughter, Sophia.
Speaking to FEMAIL, the 31-year-old Formula 1 hit out against the recent furore that has erupted after she shared a number of imaged of her feeding her daughter.
After she faced a backlash from some users for posting such images, she shared a candid message for the trolls with FEMAIL, quipping: ‘I would tell them to go eat their dinner in the toilet.’
She continued: ‘I think all mothers should support each other and stick together instead of picking flaws. It’s tricky as parenting is one of those things everyone seems to have an opinion on and a lot of the time it’s unwanted and can be so cruel.
‘I am doing my best as a mum by following my heart and intuition. I feel mums should really listen to their intuition; no one knows their baby better.’
Meanwhile, in another discussion about parenthood later on in Loose Women, Katie revealed she’d been left shaken when her eight-year-old daughter Princess Tiami – her daughter with Peter Andre – cracked her arm.
Having broken her forearm earlier this month when she fell off the pony the star had bought her for her birthday, and had to undergo an emergency operation to re-set the limb in cast.Daily Mail
