The long awaited Mike Nliam produced sitcom; Akpos & Company has finally made its debut on network channels, that include STV and NTA.
The TV sitcom, which features Nollywood acts like Florence Onuma, Eliel Otete and Mario Omasoro among others, according to a statement sent to DAYLIGHT.NG by elated Nliam is expected to make more impact on viewers as he has enlarged its reach.
According to the producer, Mike Nliam, the hilarious TV comedy drama series would now show every Saturday on STV between 12pm and 12:30pm; Galaxy TV between 8pm and 8:30pm, while every Sunday, Akpos & Company would be shown on NTA Kaduna and NTA Kano between 6pm and 6:30pm.
Speaking on her joy working on the set of Akpos & Company, Florence Onuma said, “It was a shift from my usual role, it was my official first attempt at comedy however, working on the set of Akpos & Company was quite interesting, we worked like a family. The director Abbey Esho and the producer Mike Nliam were fun to work with.”
In the words of Nliam, “The process of making Akpos & Company was very meticulous and professional. Majority of the cast were selected during an intensive audition and only about 4 of them were table cast. Florence Onuma who played Lovina (Mama Akpos) was on my mind from day 1 and she didn’t disappoint performance wise.
“The very talented Eliel Otete who plays Old Major (Papa Akpos) was cast one full year after the first audition and I didn’t think twice about giving him the part. Jerry Onwordi (alias Baba Nothing Spoil) who plays Akaka, was also cast from day one. He had no visible or invisible competition for the role and the major character, Akpos was played by a man, who has literally become the character that has become one of the most talked about,” Nliam revealed.
Mike Nliam, who is the producer of Akpos & Company made fame as a musician and movie soundtrack specialist with over 300 songs to his credit.
He was also a member of the group, Safari, which interestingly had the director of Akpos & Company, Abbey Esho, as a member.
