A Lagos based oil and Gas Company has dragged Olyton Nigeria Limited, a steel construction company and its Director, Mr. Oliver Okeregwu before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly failing to deliver on a N829.6 million job even after an overpayment of N301.1 million, this SHOWBIZPLUSng can authoritatively report.
According to the petition dated July 17, 2014 and referenced PLG/17072014/EFCC/0001, the initial value for the job was N652.8 million but on the demand of the Okeregwu, more money was added for him and yet after paying above the stipulated value of the contract, the job was yet to be delivered while the contractor allegedly claimed that he had no money to complete the job.
The complainant said the facility he contracted the alleged defaulter to build for them was in Warri, Delta State and is accusing the company and its director of “criminal diversion of the resources and put the value of jobs not yet done for which monies had been collected at over N300 million.
“From the valuation of the contract, the following work specifications remain outstanding ; completion of erection of the Tank farm, i.e., sand basing and painting –N50 million; construction of Bund wall – N33 million; construction of Admin building – N31,5 million and NDT Tests to be conducted – N15 million.
“Mr Oliver has received from us an over-payment of N176, 834,000 which was meant for the flooring of the tanks and also received N130, 100,000 for the outstanding work specifications as itemized above”, Mr. O. J Edu, the company Secretary lamented.
The petition addressed to the Executive Chairman of the EFCC through its Port-Harcourt zonal office, accused Okeregwu and his company of hiding under various pretences, to obtain from it, the total sum of N829, 599 million.
“We agreed with Mr. Oliver Okeregwu to construct a tank farm for us at the sum of N652, 765 in Warri, Delta State. Hiding under various pretences, he has obtained from us, the total sum N829, 599,000” the petition said.
The petition prayed the EFCC to “Please use your good office to come to our aid in respect of our unutilized N306, 934 million as the money is borrowed from a bank”.
