Project Fame contestants on probation |
SHOWBIZPLUSng
can authoritatively report that the competition in the MTN Project Fame Season
7 academy is definitely getting hotter. David was eventually eliminated on
Saturday night. Despite giving a decent performance to keep his place in the
academy, he could neither secure enough viewers votes, nor gain the judges’ or
his fellow contestants’ preference.
Interestingly,
Ugo (18), Debbie (4), Melody (12), Flourish (7) and Lasbrey (11), the latest
set of contestants on probation, will be praying they gather enough votes from
viewers to avoid the fate that befell David. And as the contestants’ fate
largely rest with the viewers, they were seen appealing with sincerity to
viewers to text their unique numbers to 306 or 1745(Ghana), via an MTN line, to
keep them in the academy.
Like in the previous
night, when the first set of contestants to be on probation performed with
gusto in an attempt to secure their stay in the academy, every performance was
outstanding except for a few. Geoffrey, singing ‘Baby’ by Justin Bibier, was
remarkable. Laami, who rendered ‘What Now’ by Rihanna was unbelievable,
according to the judges’ verdict.
Emeka showed
a marked improvement as he performed ‘Wants You Back for Good’ by Boyz II Men.
Ogechi did not disappoint when she sang Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’. Rukky performed
‘Chandelier’ by Sia; Kofo, Shola, Christian and Taiwo performed different songs
by Avril Lavigne, Chris Brown, Neyo and Akon, respectively, on a night filled
with sounds of Rock and Urban tunes.
While Ugo,
Debbie, Melody, Flourish and Lasbrey did not do entirely badly, the judges
felt, each one of them were lacking in basic qualities and needed to work
harder to continue in the academy. They made references to flat notes,
distraction, misinterpretation of lyrics and improper diction as some of the contestants’
undoing.
Meanwhile,
Clement got injured a few minutes before the show and couldn’t perform. Viewers
can visit MTN Project Fame social media handles like Facebook and Twitter to
wish him a quick recovery.
