Lagos was recently lit up for the MTN Project
Fame’s All-Stars Concert with electrifying performances from the Academy’s
famous alumni and their colleagues.
Most spectacular was the rousing duet by the
telecommunications company’s Chief Marketing Officer, Larry Annettes with KCEE of ‘Limpopo fame’,
Iyanya and Wizkid.
It was a great master-piece
and kudos must go to the telecommunications company for bringing together such
an array of music stars, in justification of its ‘Can-do’ spirit and
leadership, when it comes to supporting its host communities or helping young
people to achieve their dreams.
Praiz and Iyanya had sang about this
unusual bridge between dreams and realities in ‘Rich and Famous’ and ‘Kukere’.
Giving vent to youths’ dreams by
providing the right platform for aspiring musical talents to excel, Nigeria’s
foremost telecommunication’s company, MTN, has produced scores of music
super-stars whose nationality spread across the West African sub-region.
Notable among these music supers-stars are Iyanya, one of Africa’s biggest
musical exports, Chidinma, Praiz and Kesse.
Remarkably, these musical stars and
rare personalities have risen to super-stardom in less than five years, after
they participated in Africa’s most popular musical reality, the MTN Project
Fame West Africa.
It was for that unmatched record
that the All-Stars Concert was organised to celebrate and showcase how well
young ones can be groomed without allowing them to go through the frustrating
uncertainty of endless hassles that is accustomed to the musical industry.
The
youths who have participated in the MTN Project Fame’s musical reality shows
surely sparkle with rare professionalism such that when a select few among them
featured in the just concluded All-Stars Concert, the audience was left
wondering if they were not legends already.
From Yetunde ‘Omo’badan’s’ gorgeous look to
Adetoun’s effortless vocal range, equaling that of Chidinma and Monica’s
seamless tonality, there is much to cheer and great hope for young female music
talents that are already auditioning in Lagos for the reality show.
Interestingly, Mike, the winner of
the second edition has transformed. He gave a gusto performance. Ayo, the
recent winner, is digging deep into Afro-beats. Kesse and Nii, from Ghana, were
a masterpiece. Kesse who recently won the Ghana Music Award was a runner-up to
Nigeria’s Chidinma, at the third edition of Project Fame.
Apparently, Wizkid and KCEE had come
to celebrate MTN’s ‘can-do’ spirit having produced such an outstanding number
of musicians in five years. Little wonder, Wizkid did a duet with Iyanya and
Chidinma separately.
The concert was graced by who-is-who
in the music industry. Meanwhile, the opening gala of the reality show is scheduled
for July 27, amid glitz and razzmatazz.
