Barely seven months after he was sworn in as the National Public Relations
Officer (PRO) of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Frank Dallas has been
impeached by the National Executive Council of the guild.
They alleged Dallas was sacked for
certificate forgery and anti guild’s activities.
In a press release made available to Sunday Express, the President of the Guild, Fiberesima Ibinabo stated thus: “This is the resolution of the National Executive Council of AGN on a motion for his impeachment based on petitions written against him by over 20 concerned members of the Lagos State chapter of AGN and also on petition written by the National President to the Board of Trustees and NEC on the anti guild’s activities and impeachable offences committed by the PRO. He was found guilty of all the offences and hereby impeached from office with immediate effect.”
The release which was dated July 10, further described Dallas’ anti guild’s activities as ranging from insubordination, certificate forgery and disregard for constituted authorities, among others. The letter was signed by all members of the NEC, including the National President, National Secretary, National Treasurer, National Financial Secretary, Director of Guild Services, Chief Whip and the Vice Presidents of all the six regions.
Fiberesima revealed that Dallas was earlier disqualified from contesting for the position due to certificate forgery.
“He later contested during the bye
election under questionable clearance and had since then never represented the
guild well,” Ibinabo disclosed.
While
reacting, embattled Dallas said he would address all the allegations leveled
against him in a petition he would soon make public.
