Twenty five years after leaving
secondary school, the 1988 set of Command Secondary School, Jos, Plateau State,
is set for an epoch anniversary celebration and reunion bash.
Fittingly tagged: Sharing Memories.
Strengthening Friendship, the nostalgic gathering begins on Friday, July 19,
with a cocktail to be hosted by the Chairman of the Reunion Committee, Anthony
Akhidenor at the Criscane Suites, Abuja. The following day, July 20, there will
be a picnic at New Chelsea Hotel, Abuja, as well as a dinner later in the
evening.
Interestingly, former Commandants,
Presidents of Command Jos Old Students Association and the interim chairman of
COJOSA are expected to share in the joy of the reunion at the special evening
event. Also, the past Commandants will be honoured by the group.
In the words of elated Akhidenor,
this is the first of its kind in the history of the school.
“This is another landmark
achievement following the donation of computers to the school in 2010. In like
manner at the event, the set mates will donate a few items to the alma mater in
commemoration of the reunion to appreciate the school for how it has positively
impacted our lives.”
On why they are meeting again
after 25 years, another member of the set, Tope Ojo stated that the reunion
thing started as an idea.
“A few people got together and
very soon the discussion drifted towards the one thing that connects them:
Command Jos. It has been 25 years since the Class of 88 graduated. 25 years
since the last time most of us saw face to face.”
