Chris and Anita, when the going was good |
After days of subdued silence, the
embattled founder of Christ Embassy church, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has finally
spoken on the adultery allegation tearing his marriage to embitter Anita apart.
He also admitted being in a UK court
with his estranged wife, who recently filed for divorce on the grounds of
unreasonable behavior and adultery.
Speaking through his lawyer, Kemi
Pinheiro, SAN, in a paid advertorial published in some national newspapers and
obtained by SHOWBIZPLUSng, the advertorial said:
“The attention of our client, Rev. Chris
Oyakhilome and the church, the Christ Embassy, has been drawn to the wave of
false, malicious and fabricated stories being published in the print and
electronic media about his person, the church and a matrimonial cause between
him and his wife… Our client is seriously concerned that under the guise of
reporting a divorce proceeding involving him publishers resorted into an
unjustified and malicious attack on his reputation…”
On behalf of rattled Oyakhilome,
Pinheiro, who personally signed the full page advertorial continued:
“It is our client’s instructions to
inform the members of the public and particularly warn the concerned media
houses that the news or story currently circulating in the media is nothing but
a complete distortion of the facts in the pending proceedings in the UNITED
KINGDOM…”
Oyakhilome also threatened to embark on
a legal action against media houses if they do not desist from reporting about
the case without verifying.
But the big question is where does
Oyakhilome and his church hierarchy that are fond of maintaining annoyingly
sealed lips on matters concerning them want the media to verify their stories
from?
All the media had written and will
continue to write on this saga were all sourced from the public domain courtesy
of a UK court.
Nobody has fabricated any false story or
rumour.
At least, with the above statement,
Oyakhilome has finally confirmed what the media earlier reported that he is
currently in a UK court fighting one of the biggest battles of his life with
his wife, who wants a divorce following allegations of adultery and
unreasonable behaviour.
