Why Glo sacked Nollywood brand ambassadors

Life has many twists and turns and sometimes what looks like a very awful day for one could bring goodwill to another. This best captures the recent dropping of some Nollywood ambassadors of giant telecommunication company, Glo and their subsequent replacements with some wave making music acts.

The alleged sacked Nollywood stars, Monalisa  Chinda, Ramsey Noah, Rita Dominic, Mike Ezuruonye, Nonso Diobi, Uche Jombo and Odunlade Adekola had earlier enjoyed a mouthwatering deal with Glo in a relationship that spanned over a couple of years, with each actor smiling to the bank.
As revealed by insiders, so many reasons necessitated the recent reshuffling, chiefly among which is the need to embrace fresh faces and give opportunity to some talented artistes who are beginning to have more followership than some of the Nollywood stars and could better project and promote the Glo brand-especially in the area of porting campaigns.
With their sacking comes the enlistment of new set of music acts on Glo pay roll. For instance, artistes like Waje, Flavour, Omawumi, Lynxxx and Bez have for the past two months been embraced by the telecommunication giant as its brand ambassadors.
Notwithstanding, there are still some Nollywood and comedy stars like Desmond Eliot, Funke Akindele, Ini Edo, Chioma Chukwuma, and Basket Mouth who are still enjoying a warm relationship with the brand and still smile to the bank, courtesy of Glo.
However, while some of the dropped celebrities have welcomed the development, describing it as part of life others still feign ignorance of the termination, considering how drastically their fortunes would dwindle.
“I don’t know about the termination yet,” fair skinned actor, Ramsey Nouah said. On her part, Uche Jombo has already moved on with her life, “that is not new,” she confirmed.  “It was a relationship she enjoyed while it lasted. She is now engaged in so many things. We wish Glo the very best,” Monalisa’s publicist, Isaac Ola responded.
Entertainment Express gathered that those who were dropped have been told to go to the legal department of Globacom to pick up a letter terminating their contracts with the company. This, as observed has been yielded by few, while others feel the letter was not in any way necessary.
When EE placed a telephone call to Glo, the company maintained sealed lips, noting that the media would soon be communicated on the new developments.
As advised by American author, Theodor Seuss “though it is funny how ‘a hello’ is always accompanied with ‘a goodbye’, do not cry because it is over; smile because it happened!”
