Nollywood stars, stakeholders boycott parley with Nigerian Film Corporation boss

Several Nollywood stars and practitioners shunned the recent stakeholders parley organized by the new boss of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), Dr. Danjuma Dadu, in Lagos.
Aside boycotting the interactive session, which was poorly attended, some of the disappointed stakeholders who spoke with us on the condition of anonymity promised never to have any dealings with NFC and its new helmsman pending when they decide to see them as the ‘engine room’ of the nation’s thriving film industry.

Leading film stakeholders and practitioners expected at the parley, including all the guild heads in Nollywood were conspicuously missing at the event.
Even the presence of Fidelis Duker and Tunde Oloyede did little to rev the profile of the poor outing by Dadu and his team.
A top player in the industry, who does not want his name in print, while giving reasons they deliberately boycotted the forum, said it was in continuation of their earlier protest against the appointment of Dadu, a civil engineer as head of the apex film body.
They promised to continue with their boycotts of NFC events and protests till Dadu is removed and replaced with a professional.
“What happened in Lagos recently was a tip of the ice berg. We will keep protesting and boycotting NFC events and activities until government meets with our demands for a core professional as the head of the nation’s apex film body. You don’t just impose people on us and expect us to start working with them and pretend all is well. All is not well at the NFC and we want the government to know it now. We will soon be going to the National Assembly to protest the injustice and improper appointment at the NFC,” disclosed two leading filmmakers who instigated the successful boycott.
