Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade threw a mild jibe at President Muhammadu Buhari in her speech at the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) held on October 22, 2016.
Alade, who won an award for the Best Female Artiste at the event gave a remark regarding the president's comments stating that his wife, Aisha belongs in the kitchen.
While receiving her award at the Ticketpro Dome,Johannesburg, she said, “Give it up to all the African women in the building.
“We’re not meant for the kitchen alone, we are not meant for the living room alone, we are not meant for the other room alone.
“We are hardworking women and we belong to the society too.
“If not, I won’t be here receiving this award."
The singer was one of the artistes expected to go home with an award for the intense efforts put into their music career.
Another big winner at the event was Wizkid, who received awards for the African Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artisteand Best Collaboration. pulse
