The Federal Government will pay the NFF N471.8 million for the Super Eagles, Falcons
The money will be used to pay outstanding winning bonuses for the two national teams
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will receive a sum of US$1,173,820.00 at N305/$ for the payment of bonuses to the Super Falcon, Eagles.
The office of the accountant general of the federation released the mandate to Central Bank of Nigeria for payment of the sum.
The money will be used to pay outstanding winning bonuses for super eagles in the 2018 World Cup Qualifying matches and for the super falcons’ participation just concluded Africa Women Cup of Nations.
This sum was approved by the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun.
On Thursday, December 16, a mandate was given for sum of N358 million be paid by Central Bank of Nigeria, a statement signed Kenechukwu N, on behalf of the accountant general, said.
Another mandate for N113.8million has also been released by Office of the AGF for the payment of wining bonus to the national teams in concern.
The office of the AGF announced that the sum has already been paid to the NFF after President Muhammadu Buhari authorised the payment within 24 hours.
On Wednesday, December 14, members of the Super Falcons stormed the National Assembly to protest the non-payment of their bonuses.
The ladies were hopeful that President Buhari, who was due to present the 2017 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly, will see them and show pity on their plight.
However, Abba Kyari, the chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, was on hand to assure the ladies that they will be paid today, Friday, December 16.
The Presidency also immediately summoned Dalung and the leadership of the NFF to a meeting.
The girls are now expected to receive their allowances and bonuses which is estimated to be $24,000 each, approximately N11.5m per player. naij
