Ufuoma McDermott |
Recently, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and meet and greet have become heavy publicity mechanism used by producers to promote their movies.
However, Nollywood actress Ufuoma McDermott, wants more.
The actress took to Instagram to share a photo of Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall. promoting their new movie "When the Bough Breaks."
She shared the photo the above photo with a post encouraging her colleagues to always promote their movies.
"Fellow
actors, it is your DUTY to promote any project you feature in. You know
why? Cos its success is your success just as it's failure is yours
too," she wrote.
Your ratings rise and
fall not based on how "sweet" a film is but based on how well it sold.
This is known as "Bankability". Get behind the box office. And yes, your
social media should be used. The producer already took a risk so quit
thinking of how much he'll make from proceeds.(it's not like you'll
"help" him if he records a loss)
Concern yourself with maintaining your bankable status. PROMOTE YOUR WORK. Yes! It is yours Like @chrisihidero will say, Credit is our payment. Your name is on it; Push it. Pls follow @kevinhart4real and@therock You just might understand how much the game is changing."
In early 2016, McDermott starred alongside Omoni Oboli, Uche Jombo, Chioma Chukwuka, Kenneth Okonkwo, Julius Agwu and Kalu Ikeaguwu in "Wives on Strike."
From
Ondo, Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja, Benin, Warri and Port Harcourt, the cast
visited almost all the 12 cities where the movie screened.
They met their fans, convinced them to see the movie, sold tickets, and saw the movie with them.
Biyi
Bandele's "Fifty" had a four-month cinema run in Nigeria. The movie not
only created a pre-release buzz, they also encouraged a post-release
hype by engaging the audience through their various social media
campaigns, and 'meet and greet' featuring cast of the movie, and the
likes of Banky W. '
Earlier this year, a renowned filmmaker stated that she would never cast an actor who isn't interested in promoting a movie. Pulse
