Five winners recently emerged in this year’s
‘Back To School’ raffle draw held at the Adeola Odeku retail store of Coolworld,
a subsidiary of PZ Cussons, in Lagos.
The lucky winners according to a statement sent to SHOWBIZPLUSng
were: Olumide Makinwa, Onuoha Daniel, Uchechukwu Ekwem, Arinzechi Ogonna and
Damaris. They were rewarded with a N200,000 educational grants for spending a
minimum of N50,000 at one of the retail outlets of the firm scattered across
the country.
Managing Director of Coolworld Electrical Retail Stores, Mr. Olugbenga Kolawole, said the products promotion, which started last year, was instituted to allay the fears of most parents during the ‘dreaded’ month of September because of the huge educational expenses they have to make for their wards.
“As a responsible company, we want to ensure our customers enjoy our products. It is not just about dropping money, but primarily customer satisfaction.
What we have noticed in recent times in Nigeria, is that in September, retail spending dips and that is because people are more focused on the education spending as school resumes for a new session.
What we did last year was to devise a promotion to support customers during this difficult period. We know our customers do spend heavily on tuition, so we said if you spend anything above N50,000 in any Coolworld store across Nigeria, you will be eligible for a N200,000 grant and we would be giving 10 grants for spendings in the month of August and September. This is beside other educational items that are consolation prizes to all purchases, even those who are not eligible for the draw,” he said.
Marketing Director of TEC Appliances, Vikramjeet Singh, explained that the grant is not cash, but used only for the purposes of settling educational bills.
“Once you are a winner, you will submit an invoice of your educational bill to UBA, who are our trustees, up to the tune of N200,000. The uniqueness of this grant is that it is a lifetime grant. So, if you don’t want to spend it this year, it is safe with UBA trustees until when needed with accrued interest. Also, your spending can be split at several times.”
