Ejiofor |
It is no longer news that Nigerian-born
Chiwetel Ejiofor recently carted home the best actor trophy in the just
concluded BAFTA awards in London. What is perhaps trending is the fact that
more accolades are now coming the way of the handsome thespian few days after
making us proud.
The latest recognition, SHOWBIZPLUS gathered is coming
from his elated state’s governor, Sullivan Chime of Enugu.
Chime honoured the American-based
actor for making the coal city proud with his numerous nominations and awards
which included five Golden Globe nominations and the honour of Order of the
British Empire (OBE) conferred on him by Queen Elizabeth of England.
Chime said: “Chiwetel Ejiofor has by
this feat, brought great honour and glory to Nigeria and Enugu State in
particular. The fact that he beat some of the best actors in the world to win
the BATFA Best Actor award is something that calls for great celebration. It
proves once again, that Nigerians can hold their own in every field of
endeavour if they really put their minds and hands to it.”
