SHOWBIZPLUS can authoritatively reveal that the Centenary Planning
Committee of the office of the Secretary to the Government of Nigeria (SGF) in
collaboration with Evergreen Musical Company Limited (EMCL) has embarked on the
compilation of Nigeria’s heritage and contemporary music from 1914 to 2014 in
commemoration of the country’s 100th year celebration of its formation
as one indivisible nation.
As a result, the committee is placing a clarion call to all
musicians of note who are still alive and the estate of those that have left
us, but whose memory is still etched in our hearts and that of the nation, to
participate in this laudable project of assembling Nigeria’s greatest musical
works in one compendium that would be an everlasting legacy, not only for
Nigeria but all contributory participants who have their musical works included
in the compilation.
The Evergreen Musical Company Limited has been in active
highlife business since the early nineties but became incorporated as a limited
liability company in 2005.
If you talk highlife, indeed all indigenous music by content
and artiste, you must of necessity talk Evergreen Musical Company Limited;
whether Nigerian or Ghanaian.
Our pedigree convinced the Federal Government of Nigeria
through the Centenary Planning Committee of the office of the SGF to formally
commission this project, which we proposed to them way back in September 2013.
“The corollary need for
this press conference, apart from announcing the project, is to invite the new
age, young outstanding Nigerian musicians, along with the iconic pioneers of
various genres of indigenous Nigerian music and invite them to have their music
represented in this heritage, one-time compilation.
Forms will be distributed and any willing artiste who wishes
to be featured in this compilation to so indicate by signing and utilizing.
Please note that this compilation is not for sale. They will
be handed over to the Federal Government for world-wide distribution,” stated
Femi Esho, boss of Evergreen Musical Company Limited.
