Kefee |
Imagine how time flies. Branama
Kitchen, the restaurant of female recording artiste, Kefee (Irikefe Don-Momoh),
is two, this SHOWBIZPLUS can authoritatively reveal. The restaurant located at
Mende Maryland, Lagos, was opened on Jan. 5, exactly two years ago on Kefee’s
birthday and celebrated its second anniversary on Thursday, January 6.
Kefee who is currently in the United
States of America where she is studying Production and Directing at the Chicago
Access Network TV, registered her joy at the development in a telephone
interview.
She said she was glad that the
restaurant is celebrating its two years of existence and thanked God for His
mercies.
``I am grateful to God for bringing
us this far. I opened Branama Kitchen on my birthday two years ago, so I am
also celebrating my birthday and I thank God for all he has done for me,’’ she
said.
Kefee also addressed the issue of
the closure of the restaurant some months back. ``Yes, the restaurant was
closed but it was just for maintenance purposes. If you visit the restaurant
you will see some of the changes that have taken place there,’’ she said.
Kefee has been in the US since last
year for her course. She refused to disclose when exactly she would return but
admitted that she was almost rounding off her programme.
``I will be back soon,’’ she simply
said when quizzed.
As part of the celebrations for
Branama Kitchen’s second anniversary, Kefee said they would be giving out a
food bonanza to couples on Valentine’s Day. She said that all couples who visit
the restaurant on February 14, can eat two plates of food and pay for just one.
The restaurant had already served
free meals to all customers on Thursday, January 5.
Kefee is one of the few very active
and relevant Nigerian female music acts with four albums to her name. She broke
into the industry in 2003 with her first album, Branama and the hit track of
the same title.
A second album, Branama 2,
followed in 2005, but it was her third album, A Piece of Me (2009), which had
another hit, Kokoroko, featuring Timaya that reaffirmed her position in the
Nigerian music industry. Her fourth album which was released in 2013, is called
Chorus Leader.
